Hello All!, I am new to this forum and even more new to quilting as I usually sew clothes for my kids. I have decided to make a quilt for my DD........The instructions recommend that I "quilt as I go" . I have read up on many ways of doing this. Would value any opinions on the best way to go about this as there seams to be a couple of different methods. Many Thanks Westozmum aka Laura from the Land Down Under

Hi westozmum, welcome to SWN. I am a quilter more than a sewer but I have never actually made a quilt with the quilt-as-you-go method. The ones I've done have been completely assembled and then machine quilted. I'm sure others will be along to give advice.

Welcome down under quilter!! glad to have you here. quilting as you go is something i hope to start doing. i keep saying that and before you know it i've already made all my blocks into a quilt top again!! but i will do it. pushing around a huge quilt in my sewing machine isn't fun, so finishing blocks or rows as i go will be a good thing. I just have to do it. let us know how you get along. CC CC

Don't know if this would be avilable in Australia, but I bet you an find it in Texas.. The original is out of print, but you can find it in a Public Library.. "Lap Quilting by Georgia Bonesteel".. Georgia is the Queen of this method.. It tells you in a few EASY steps how to put your pre-quilted sections together.. I'm pretty sure you can still find "More Lap Quilting" for sale.. She has a website also.. She is on a lot of PBS stations , name of program is Lap Quilting of course..
