I'm teaching a class at our local art store. Here are my notes in PDF: [download] (http://kelly.hogaboom.org/files/200602classnotes.pdf). I would love to have (constructive) criticism, compliments, suggestions, and /or feedback.

The class is SHORT - only 2 2 1/2 hour sessions. Please keep this in mind if the notes don't seem complete.

I worked me bum off for these notes. I'm proud of them, but obsessing on them too and keep working on improvements! I had my first class last week, my second class will be this Saturday.

(X-posted to Business forum)

ETA - I posted my notes here to make them available to anyone who wants to use them. I would also be happy to edit out specific info (my name, the dates, local references) if anyone wants to use them for an outline or anything.

Kelly --
That's great. I know this is something you've wanted to do for a long time. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I did post to the business forum (i noted in my OP). Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Dorothy! My first class went very well. I have found that these two sessions are short, and there is not really enough time to hold their hands.

Very well written (are you an english major?) I think you have the makings of a book here, funny, engaging and draws one into sewing. NICE much better than some things I have seen published.

Thank you, Jeanette. I got a lot of feedback - esp. in my cross-post. One gal corrected typos and one requested a generic copy (no regional information, no dates, etc). Here is the generic version for anyone else interested: [ download ] (http://kelly.hogaboom.org/files/genericclassnotes.pdf). I will take down these notes from my server in a couple weeks.

I appreciate everyone who looked these over and commented!

Oh - In answer to your question, I wasn't an english major. I got a degree in engineering so had to do some technical writing (not that this was very technical, really).

Kelly, just wanted to tell you I really enjoyed checking out your manual. You made sewing seem like a lot of fun!! And I adore your cover picture for the manual!!! Is that one of your munchkins??

Yes, that's my daughter Sophie. She loves to "help" me sew. I told her (a few weeks ago) that when she gets better at using scissors, I will buy her a sewing machine. Sure enough, she's been practicing! She turns 4 this Thursday.

I just read through your lessons and you're very talented as a writer. Very clear instructions and I wish i had been able to have something like this when I first started teaching myself to sew. Very costly mistakes could have been avoided!! But as we say if you don't make mistakes you are challenging yourself enough.
Thanks for sharing, I've placed it in my favorites for future reference.

Great job! As a beginner sewer, I found your notes to be better than some of the books on the market. The only thing I can suggest is to add a glossary so everything is available in one document.

Best of luck,
