Well lets see...today my dishwasher AND my stove broke.....
Small plastic part on the dishwasher came off...$10. (thats Ok...I can put it on myself)
The stove is one of those new glass top ones...well...it now has a hole in it.(that I KNOW I can't fix....)

My day went from weird to REALLY, REALLY bad in 4 hrs...
I can't cook. (like I did anyway...) can't wash dishes.( my husband noted that chinese food tastes great off of paper plates OR out of the carton).
Can't plug anything into the 3 outlets( electrician will be here tomorrow or the day after).
I realize it's not earth shattering...it's not a life thats as bad a some peoples and I'm NOT complaining...but I find it weird that all this STRANGE stuff keeps happening to me.

Please someone tell me this kinda stuff happens to you too.....where days/weeks/years at a time, things break, animals die, hurricanes eat your house, one after the other without a break...

oh...and my husband lost part of his luggage on the way home fri. (San Diego, to Dallas, to Atlanta to here...they mislabled a FORCED check in, on a carry on bag, to make room for 3 employee's that HAD to go on that flight, sent the bag to Wichita Falls, found it and we got it today....or rather my neighbor did...I was in the bathroom, with 4 ferrets throwing themselves at the door and I didn't hear the door bell...so the luggage (backpack) went to someone ELSE, because the delivery person couldn't wait a min...after we waited 4 days, and they didn't bother to tell us they'd found and shipped it.
:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

I can't wait to tell my husband in the morning that I broke the stove.
He's gonna love that...me...I wanna scream...

Well, Chrys, first of all:

Then, to answer your question, no you are not the only one who has strings of strange/annoying happenings.
As soon as my dh took the job here in KY and left, everything at our house in CA started breaking. The heater went out (under warranty to replace--but because it was termed "an act of God" which broke it--we were out $300+... and without heat for nearly a week. Can you say cases of duralogs-lol!, then the sink developed a leak- $150.00. The truck broke down--and of course, you know how mechanics (in general) view us women---can you say target--lol! So, $400.00 later... the truck was fixed. $150.00 mirrored (newly installed just weeks before) closet door broken by movers loading up our household goods. Of course this wasn't noticed until the next day because they never told us and slid it the other way to hide the damage. Then the worse, our 13 yo dd threatened to run away. We found out a 16 yo boy was trying to date her, showing up at lunch at her middle school, and that she had been sneaking out and going to his house everyday when I left to pick up her sisters at school. (her school was out 1/2 hour before theirs). I also found out she was cutting after school study period to meet him. UGH! And he was on parole for breaking and entering. Her gun toting police officer dad was ready to open fire when he came home to drive us back here to KY.
Oh, and did I mention that our mortgage closing company accidentally shorted us by $6300.00!!!!

And since we have moved here, 1 month ago, we have had to had our sewer snaked ($200.00) and replaced all 3 of our toilets because we were plunging them everyday at least twice a day ($700.00+ for 3 new toilets--but they are awesome if anyone is in the same situation and needs good toilets--Kohler Cimarron-- are awesome-NAYY)
And the gas company found a leak in our loop gasline which cost $200.00 to fix. Because the line is "ours" not their equipment, it was our responsibility to fix. And, of course, none of this was covered by our highly touted homeowners warranty. UGH!
So, yes, it does tend to come in waves, but it just makes you more thankful when things are going along swimmingly--lol!

One more hug:

Hope this helped to make your day a little brighter :bg:

Yes it can get worse. After a terrible week I made the statement "What else can go wrong?" The next morning my house caught on fire and I had to live in a motel room with 5 DC and one husband. So now I never ever ask what else can go wrong?

Fits my life to a "T". Everything breaks at once. Every disaster happens right after you've made all the repairs (and are dead broke). Every critter gets sick on a prom dress. Every slice of toast drops butter-side-down.

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck a'tall....

Summer - I hope your house gets fixed soon and there wasn't too much damage!!
I told a friend of mine to never ask, "What else can go wrong?" - well, she did and her whole ceiling began to leak the next day  When you ask it, God will answer. Unfortunately, it's usually not the answer we were hoping for!

Thank you mozeyrn, but I forgot to mention that this happened about 20 years ago. Everything came out fine in the end but for 6 months I wasn't a happy camper.

OH yes I think we all have heard the saying
"when it rain's it pours" or 'things come in 3's

that is just so true, sorry about everything braking at once.

had that happen more then once, you really start to brace yourself for what is next.
Hold on tight,
we are here helping you hold things down!!

Chrys, you are not alone! Three years ago when we moved into our house, we broke two exterior door locks, the washing machine started making clothes dirtier than they started with, the dryer didn't dry anything, pipes, toilets and showers started either leaking or getting clogged... I swear we had a list of 20 or so items. I can laugh about it all now but at the time I thought we had moved into "the money pit."
Then last year, my sister and her husband split up on the same day my next door neighbour's little boy dies, a few weeks later my good friend 6 months pregnant starts hemorraging, they both almost die but the baby has severe brain damage from lack of oxygen. The little girl has just died in January after a very challenging year for her family. It has been a very tough year for my 5 yo little girl.
To top it off, my renters started a fire in the basement a couple weeks ago. But they are moving at the end of the month and I will get a sewing room.

Thank you all.....I knew it wasn't just me...
(and yes we did have chinese food tonight...but we ate on our regular plates)

The stove top 'might' still be under warranty. (it's less than 4 yrs old).

I never ask what next. I DON'T want to know....I'm afraid someone might tell me.

[[[ ]]] for you all...

My husband wasn't as upset as I was (stressed my little Lupus self and now I feel bad...but Oh well..)

I'm happy for those 8 in Nebraska that won the 300+ millions...I always like to see BIG jackpots go to more than one person...spread the wealth a bit !

Isent' that so wonderful that they won that money

But I think you need the pot to be big when you win (because so much will go for taxes) what is it, 15 mil for each after taxes?
sounds like a lot, but think about it, it is not enough, not in this day and time.. and I think they will still need to work. but enough to buy a modest home, and fill it up, cars, bills, etc. all paid for.. but nothing to go over board on.
esp if they wish the money to stay with them for there lifetime.
The only thing about winnings, or the down side would be you would have to move far away and out of the state.. and just blend in with everyone else.
or else you will have calls for the rest of your life, from someone wanting this or that.
and th at poor girl now, not married, now she will never know if they love her for who she is, or if they are after her money.

A lot of people do that at work, I know my husband and some Co-workers have done the same (never winning)
