Hi everyone, I'm sitting here with my just bought Brother XL-3500 sewing machine, and for the life of me, I can't get it to sew anything. I've owned a Sears Kenmore in the past, and had trouble with the bobbins on that one, too. This is a drop in type with a clear 15 bobbin, and no matter how closely I follow the manual's instructions, it's not happening. Is there a trick to this type of machine, or is it me? I still have the box, and can return it if I can't get it...but I'd rather get it!!! I would so appreciate anyone's help here, as I'm so disappointed I can't do this! I usually bead and make jewelry, but I'm starting to do some crazy quilting, and thought a new machine would be helpful, not stressful...thanks again, bluegypsy |

Am so sorry to hear that you're having trouble. Sounds as if the thread is not catching in the tension disks. Is your presser foot lever in the up position when you thread ? With Brother machines, the bobbin drops in and one winds the thread along the path and catches the tension disk. I think you should take the machine to your dealer and have them walk you thru it several times. I had to do that when I first got my Pfaff sewing machine and serger. It took me several months before everything clicked in my brain ... Hope this helps. Happy Stitching! Marty It takes one moment to change a life.
