I have a piece of black cotton with jungle animals all over it that my daughter wants for a light summer blanket. She wants me to put a jersey knit blue on the back of it, and use the knit for binding. I am wondering if this is going to work having the knit on the back of the cotton. I wasn't going to quilt it at all, just do the binding, but I think the jersey knit is going to stretch all out of shape. And quilting it would be a nightmare, jersey on cotton. Any other suggestions??

You could bar tack it in different places...maybe using some fancy stitch on your machine, e.g. a heart or a star. Or just tie it with something like embroidery floss.

After seeing your green purse, how bout I send it to you and you can do your fancy free motion quilting!! (just kidding - kind of) I keep looking at it and trying to figure out how to do this, tying may just be the easiest, that's for sure. The sewing machine just went to the hospital, it was having trouble doing the embroidery stitches, wanted to stitch in one spot and not move on, so am working on a very old noisy clunky singer for a few days, so not too much fancy stuff going on here now.

You could just try it and see. DO the sew right sides together flip outsides out then top stitch around. Then see if it needs tacked. I am thinking it probably won't but it depends on the size of the blanket. I do it with about a meter of cotton and flannel and it doesn't need tacked.

I agree, for a smallish blanket it should be ok. She will love it!
