i have brother embroidery machine and pe-design 1.0 software. I want to purchase the 6.0 software. I have the programs for 5.0 and 6.0 but not the card reader. So the programs will not work.

Doe anyone have any suggestions? I have e/mailed different people/companies etc, to ask if the upgrade to 6.0 for vers 1-4 will work? I never get a response. So still looking for answers.

Thank you for any suggestions. :bluesmile

Hi pepsi, I have the brother 6500 and I have PED Basic which is a reader writer. I paid around 130.00 for it about seven months ago. You have to have a reader, writer unit to transfer your pictures to the sewing machine. I don't have the design software and I think I will go with embird soon...but if you do not have the reader writer you wont be able to get your embroidery pictures to the machine. :) Ria

Dear Ria

Thank you for your reply. I do have ped basic and the reader. I also have a pe-design 1.0 w/ reader. I want the 6.0 software to enable me to decrease and enlarge patterns, and that software adjusts the stitches for you. That is the main reason I want the upgrade. Could you enlighten me about Embird, I know nothing about any other kind of software. Have a great day Ria. Thank again.

Hi Pepsi, You can go to this url and send in for the CD or download the trial version of Embird. I sent for the CD and am using it now for 30 day trial..you can change formats , resize and there is a digitizing studio but they ban that part in the trial....

Dear Ria,

Thank you again for your suggestions. I took your advise and download Embird. So far I am very impressed, even though I have no idea what I have. Is what you download, is this what you get for the $99.00 purchase price? Or do you have to purchase the editor separate. I cannot tell. I appreciate your advice, thank you again. Happy sewing :bluewink:

Pepsi, I just downloaded my embird and just started using it...as far as I can tell you cannot use the digitizing software on trial...you can just resize and change the format..I think you get the digitizing studio with the 99.00 but there are some plug ins that can be bought for not a real large sum...it should tell you all on the embird site....so far I love it but am still learning ...LOL...always things new are a bit frightening..I have not used a digitizing software at all before so this is all rather new to me...I am in the same boat as you except...LOL...you may just be a bit ahead of me.....Let me know how you do.....:)Ria

Dear Ria,

I agree, it is quite impressive. There is so much, it would be hard to learn it all in 30 days. I haven't had alot of time to play with it, but I do like what I see. Haven't really done any real editing with it. I had to go buy a floppy drive as my new computer did not come with one and we certainly need one. Will keep playing and see what happens this weekend. Keep me informed of your progress as well, please. Thanks again.

Pat...basic embird includes manager and editor.. with that you can convert formats, change size, change colors, change density, etc. With Embird, I always do my downloads from www.embird.com but I purchase the registration from www.secretsof.com because its about 20% cheaper...

I am trying to get the Embird software right now. So far I have paid for it and spent 5 days trying to get it on my computer. I have the trial version and know that this is what I want but for some reason I can't get the password. You can't contact the people by phone though because they are in Slovak. So, I know it's great software; I just wish I could get my hands on the silly thing. My suggestion, it's great software....just a heads up that it may be difficult to download the password and you may need a little extra time (I need mine by Tuesday, it's Sunday now).

I just registered my trial version and had no problem whatever. I paid for it Sun evening on line (now I wish I had checked out Secrets of Embroidery for their price) but I had the registration number Monday morning and had two seperate emails with two ways of putting in the reg number. Plus I got one alphabet to see what they are like. Didn't they email you the password??

blanken6... just wondered if you got your password. It should have been mailed to you. Generally Dusan is pretty good about getting passwords out within 24-36 hours.... Also.. for those of you who are new to Embird... you may want to do a search on yahoo.. there are a number of groups for Embird, including Embird Beginners, Absolutely Embird, and a lot more.... :bg:
