OK, I'm a fairly new quilter and one of my biggest problems is the rulers slipping when I'm cutting strips. I bought some of those little plastic round things that stick onto the bottom but I found that I didn't really like them much so I removed them. They sort of made the rulers rock. I saw something in Wal-Mart that looked like clear plastic that you can put on the back of the rulers to stop them from slipping and I hear that Nancy's Notions has a great product that I believe is a liquid that you apply to the backs.

Has anyone tried either of the above, or any other product that helps?

Thanks
Violet

:Canada: Hi Violet,
I make little squares of sandpaper and glue them on the back of my rulers, I put about 6 of them spaced out depending on the size of the ruler, they have been on mine for a good many years, and also save you money, I think it works great for me, give it a try before you buy anything.

How do you know where to put them so they don't block the lines? And how big of a piece do you put on?

:Canada: Hi Violet,

I tried sandpaper circles and little plastic stickon blobs on the backs of my rulers and wasn't happy with any of them. The product that I finally tried is a clear vinyl self sticking sheet called InvisiGrip. You just cut it to size, peel off the paper backing and smooth it onto the back of your ruler. It is made by Omnigrid and comes on a packaged roll 12.5 inches by 1 yard. It is readily available in quilt shops and craft stores like Michaels, and sells for under $10.00 (even less at Michaels with a 40% off coupon). I highly recommend it.

I use the fine sandpaper. Stuck on the under side where you need it, it dosen't hide any lines. Last forever, doesn't hurt your fabric or vinyl . I don't care much for the clear sticky ones. Everyone has their favorite things though. :bluesmile

We put a plastic film called 'invisigrip' or some such thing on the back of the rulers. It stays there without glue, don't ask me how, but it does. That may not be the exact name, it may be magic something or other, but tell your salesperson that you want the film that you put on the back of the ruler to prevent slippage. Most all quilt shops carry it now. I have a narrow roll that I use to wrap around my thread so the ends of the thread don't unwrap. Great product.

Yep, I have put Invisigrip on all my squares and rulers. One package can do quite a few of them.

Thanks all. I think Invisigrip wins! I'll pick some up and try it!
