I've managed to subscribe to only one formum; but don't ask me how I did it :whacky:

I have searched for the answer but nothing is found under "subscribe"

I have searched for something that says "Subscribe" on the forum pages; but still, I can't see the place that you click to "Subscribe" to a forum.

Would someone who knows tell me please.

Thanks
Michael

Micheal,

I think I know what you are talking about. Right now you get e-mails saying that the Take A Break forum on Sew-Whats-New has been updated. There are "blah, blah, blah, blah" new posts and "blah, blah, blah" updated posts or something similar to that.
You want to notified when other forums have new or updated posts? Is this correct? If "sew" :bg: then here's what you need to do.
Go here (http://sew-whats-new.com/vb/index.php?) and click on the forum you wish to subscribe to ie. General Sewing, Beginner Quilting, Middle Age Spread etc.
Right under where it lists the # of pages in the forum is a forum tools button.
Click that and you will see the option to subscribe to that forum.
Click that and you will be able to choose your notification type.
Click add subscription and you should be good to go.
If you wish to unsubscribe from a forum or thread you may do so in your user cp. I can assist you further with that if you need it just let me know.

I was under the impression that once you posted/answered a thread you would be automatically subscribed to it and would receive instant email notification when somebody else added a post. Is that right? Because that isn't working for me!

CodyGramma,

That is the way "thread" subscription normally works. It is possible that your SWN mail is getting filtered into your junk e-mail. Check your junk e-mail and make sure they are not there. If you find them there you should be able to tell your e-mail program that mail from this address is not junk. Another possibility is that SWN does not have your correct e-mail address. Go into User CP and make sure that all is well in there. There might also be something you clicked in User CP that say you don't want to receive e-mail. I am not sure about this one though, but I will look around and see if that is even possible.

Found it!
Click on User CP.
Click on edit options.
Scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode.
Choose instant email notification from the dropdown menu.
Then scroll down and click save changes.
That should do it.

I have done all that Gina - I still don't get email notification and it isn't in the junk - every now and then I get a batch of them ( like about 40)Mary and I have spent ages trying to work out what gives and I have given up now!

I changed my email and didn't subscribe again because I had the same problem as Jan. That's not why I changed -- just why I didn't subscribe again. I wouldn't get any notifications for days and then they would all come at once.

Jan,
Your server could be blocking your Sew-What's-New mail, treating it as spam.
Take care,

I didn't get notified by e-mail, don't know why I don't get notification; looks like others are having that problem as well.

There is no "Forum Tools" optiong under "# of pages". I even went to IE so see if this was a Firefox browser problem. Don't see it in either browser.

In the meantime I'm going to check with my provider.

I have a "Rule" set up in Outlook so e-mail from <email address removed for privacy> gets routed to a special folder, yet I get no e-mail notification when my posts get answered.

I suppose it could be that notifications are being blocked because it is seen as spam?

I will check back here is a couple days.

BTW
I have searched "mikecox" and found only one, of many, post. Yet when I click the mikecox link and found all my posts. I don't understand that either.

since grumbling Donna, I am now getting notifications - not backlog - just current ones starting today. We've checked the spam filters before and it wasn't that. I dunno!

hey Michael, hope you get it fixed. Just wanted to let you know that I also have Firefox/Thunderbird and I haven't had any problems getting my email from SWN at all.
