I am new to embroidery. I have a Singer CE 200 and the embroidery unit won't reset to the start posistion. Could someone please advise me how to reset. on my forth project now & this has me stumped.

I don't have this particular machine, but have you tried turning it off and then back on to reset it ??? Or maybe your needle/presser foot is down...???
Do you have the correct 'tabs' pushed ??? (embroidery as opposed to sewing, whatever).

I own Janome's and I'm just making guesses here...

Thank you Chrysantha for the ideas. I finally got lucky and it finally went back to the start possition. I tried every thing I could think of; pressor foot down & up, threaded & unthreaded, replaced the bobbin, hoop attached and unattached. In the past before this problem started if you turned the machine on without the hoop attached it would go back to the start possition. Now the past few times if it doesn't reset, I have to turn the machine on and off many times until it finally decides to go to the start posistion. This gets very frustrating. I think I will send Singer an e-mail on this.
Thanks again for the attempt.

James,

I have a ce-100. The same machine with less stitches in regular sewing mode.
Was your needle in the highest position?
Here is how I get mine to return home. Make sure the presser foot is lifted, make sure needle is in the highest position, then I turn the machine off and then back on. I do this to remove my finished designs because It is easier to get them out. It has the added bonus of being right where I need it when I start again.

I have the CE-200, and although I haven't had your exact problem, this is what I have had to do on occasion. First, don't leave a hoop attached after you have finished a project. Once you take it off, leave it off until the next time you need it. Always turn the machine on first, then IMMEDIATELY start the Futura software program on your computer (if you're doing embroidery). This should reset the hooping carriage to the start position. If you happen to get an error during a project and have to restart the machine, take the hoop off first before you turn the machine off. This will save you some time and aggravation. Once the hoop is off, turn the machine off then on again, and the carriage should automatically reset. Only once has this not worked for me, but it was because the software locked up on a design I was using, and I had to turn my machine off AND reboot my computer to get everything to reset  That was NOT a fun day!!

James, I had a customer with a similar problem. If the machine is not responding like it has in the past I would take it into the dealer. Most likely they will just replace the machine.

Thank you to all for the advice. I will try them all. And if still having trouble then it will probably be time to return this machine to the dealer. The only way I have found so far to ensure returning to the start possition is to turn the power off and then back on. If unit does not reset then I have had to turn power off again and move carrage manually. After that the unit seems to be ready. I don't like doing this since I am worried that some where down the road the gears or something will get damaged.

Thanks again for the help.
