Hi,

Thank you in advance for responding. I'm making long draperies for my living room, and would like to attach them to the rod with curtain rings ( These are the rings I'm using (http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml;$sessionid$0NFAVUIAAED5OP4SY5NBHOR50 LD3OEPO?CATID=96029&PRODID=95117) ) . This fabric isn't particularly drapey. It's basic curtain weight (convington fabric). I'm wondering if I just sew the rings on the top/back of the panels or I should pleat them first? I wasn't planning on pleating, but I'm wondering if the rings alone will give them that slouch look in between in their own? I have a little under twice the width of farbic. I would be grateful for any advice.

Thank you. :nervous:

You get some grommets and make holes and put the grommets in....or you make REALLY sturdy button holes and put the hooks in the button holes (you can re-inforce the button holes with plastic (inside the fabric folds or stabilizer) the 'drapey' part comes from how you position the holes...farther apart the BIGGER the gap/drape.

Gosh, no, you don't want to make holes or put grommets in them
Either sew small tucks (about a half inch), top to bottom about 4" and you can insert drapery pins in them, or hand sew them (the bottom part) to the back near the top. You'll have to sew in 3 places to hold them well - sew on both sides at the top part of the ring and once in the center of the ring (like a Y). For a slouchy look, sew the rings 8" to 12" apart, depending on how much slouch you want.

Why wouldn't you want to put in grommets or buttonholes? This seems like a fairly simple solution that would work?

Because she's making draperies, not shower curtains. Or you could thread rope, jute or ribbon thru holes and hang, for a different look, but it's not the correct way for drapery rings.

She's using rings....not making 'drapes' with pleats...

Oy Vay :bang: :bg:

Drapery rings are either sewn on or a drapery pin is inserted thru the bottom ring. It doesn't matter if there's pleats or not. There's no way to insert them thru a hole.
