Hi. You all were helpful to me in trying to remove a train from a gown. Now I have a technique question. I removed lace trim with beads and sequins from around the bottom of the dress prior to hemming it. When I replace it, what is the best way to secure it prior to sewing? It is about 6 inches wide with lots of nooks and crannies, so I think it would take hundreds of pins. Basting would take until the end of time, and I would still have to hold it in place somehow. Would something like spray adhesive work? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your ideas. Linda <email address removed for privacy> |

There is a little roll of tape that you can purchase on the notions wall of most fabric stores. It is called Res Q Tape. It is double sided. It sticks to the garment and to the trim. I've used it on fleece to help secure pockets in place and keep them from stretching, on pom uniforms to secure the sequin trim as I sewed it on and on formals. It is clear and will wash out if it is used in something that washes (not this case). You can also sew though it without gumming your needle. It comes in a little blue and white package and the tape is only about 1/4 inch wide.

Pam: Thanks for the suggestion. I never heard of this before--sounds like it will do the trick! Linda |
