I'm VERY new to picture smocking. My pattern is instructing me to make the last cable stitch on a row to be an under cable. When I then turn the material upside down to begin another row, the thread would be in the way. I guess my question is how to I end a row in picture smocking. Do I knot and begin the next row again? Just not sure how to go from row to row with the same color or even a different color. HELP!

D, I will try to help. When picture smocking, your last stitch of the row,do not take a stitch but go over the last pleat and straight to the back. If it says to end with a down cable, when you start your next stitch it will be an up cable, butting up against the down cable. turn your work over, also the plate you are working on and contiue your row,you then continue working left to right. At the end of every row you will turn your work over and work back the other way.

Hope I helped alittle just keep asking and I will try to walk you throught it.
