Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has used these before. I have some canvas grocery bag holders and want to decorate them for resale. I have never used these and want to know if they work well or are a waste of money. I am not sure if I would like to to use the pens or just sew some appliques on. any feed back would be appreciated. Thanks! :bluesmile

I use them -- dark pen on light colored fabric. They don't work otherwise. If you heat set the ink they last quite a while but it should be on a cotton or cotton blend or it might fade in the wash.
I don't know if it makes a difference but I usually wash in cold water.

I use'em all the time...great for touch-ups on embroidery 'mistakes'...(white thread showing on the front in spots...).

Thanks!
The bag holders are canvas. Would they work on that fabric?

Thanks. Now I need some ideas for patterns and how to tranfer them onto the bag holders etc.

I never thought of that. I have some cute chunky stamps. Are those the kind you mean?

I thought of that too. Do you have to use textile medium or prep with anything else? Some of the paint pens are washable and some you have to heat set.

I used a primer on the bags before I tole painted them, and a glossy spray finish after the picture was finished....

Was it a spray primer? I am not familiar with all of the terms so excuse me if I sound dumb. I need to know what brand and detailed discription of the process you used and how it turned out etc.

I have used these lots of times, on canvas bags and barbecue aprons, etc. One Christmas I gave each of my sons and sons-in-law (that's 4 sons and 3 sons-in-law) each an apron with a picture on the front that related to a hobby or sport. One had a fish leaping out of the water toward a hook with a worm on it, one (in Phoenix) a saguaro cactus with a gold crown and a long fork and the caption Batbecue King!! and other things like that. I've fused flowers and stuff cut from fabric and painted around edges of the fused items. I use the fabric pain in the plastic squeezable bottles. It comes in dozens of colors. I usually wash the things by hand. LET THE PAINT DRY FOR AT LEAST 12 HOURS AFTER PAINTING. It's fun to do! MariLynntex

Thank you! Do the fabric paints in bottles dry smooth or are they a little puffy. I used to decorate shirts a long time ago using tulip paints. Is that the kind? It has been a long time. They might be different now.

Yes, those are the ones I have used often with good results. I think they are fun to use. MariLynntex
