I WON! I WON! I WON! I got home today and found the message on my answering machine. I won a $25 gift certificate at my local store. It made my whole week. Now if I placed in the national judging, THAT would make my whole YEAR!! This is the 2nd time I've entered and the 2nd time I've won. I'm doing a happy dance. The dog thinks I'm crazy. My kids told me it's just $25. I said, yes, but I WON! Can you tell I'm excited? I think I'm going to buy a bunch of batting. Or maybe quilting thread. I HAVE to spend it on something for the sewing room. |

Congrats!!!!! Is this something all Walmarts do? I have never seen anything about it. Info would be great since I have now been bitten by the quilting bug. Gina

my block was appliqued roses in a basket sitting on a battenburg doily (halfed to look like it was on a table and also purchased at Walmart) I also added embroidery and some beading. I was supposed to name the block so I called it "Roses for Marilyn" for my quilter friend Marilyn, who died last winter. The last time I won, she told me she was going to enter it the next year. So... this block was for both of us. I can't wait to tell her husband. I'll see if DS can help me post a pic this weekend. thanks for all the congrats. I knew all of you would understand my excitement. here ya go pudge: Walmart Quilt Block Challenge (www.walmart.com/quiltblock) they have it every year |

CONGRATULATIONS BAMA!! I am very happy for you and you are so nice to have named the block for your friend. After having read so many of your posts, I have concluded that you are a wonderful and caring person and surely deserving of the good things life has to offer. Enjoy spending your gift certificate. Thanks again everybody. I bought 2 rolls of cotton batting, some cluster fiber for some Easter bunnies I wanted to make, 2 spools of thread, applique pins, and 6 or 7 new sewing notions. Hubby won't ever know I went over a few dollars. |

Great to hear you won. I know the Wally World in my area has both classes and block contests. I have not had the chance to enter any or take any classes there yet. Bama , what part of Alabama are you from? Joanie B |

Your winning block sounds wonderful......would love to see it! I don't think our Walmart does anything like that but it is one of the small ones. However, they are building a Super Walmart to be open sometime in the fall so maybe they will offer things like that then. The current one does have fabric but I've never seen them offer a contest........here's hoping! Aka Sharon |

Good for you, Bama! I'd be excited, too. Maybe you could share a picture of your winning square? I'd love to oooooooooooooooh and ahhhhhhhhhhh over it. Judy Judy

I work for Walmart and this contest was for all Walmarts. Not just for some. They don't announce it,it is usually just back on the fabric table with a little cardboard frame type set up, with tear off pad of instuctions. We are a small hometown store and we have done it for yrs. So Sharon, ask to speak to the department manager of Fabrics, bc they should of had it too.
