The ultimate box allows you to take embroidery designs from your computer, download them onto an embroidery card which you put into your machine. Or you can take a card with designs already on it and upload them into your computer. The regular Ultimate Box only does .pes designs. You need a program to be able to see the design on your computer, or to resize it or change it. I know there is a specific one for Brother, but as I have a Bernina Deco which also uses .pes, I downloaded Embird from the internet for a trial period to see how I liked it. It is $99US to register the program and then there are different add-ins you can purchase to do different things. Embird is quite easy to use, there are great tutorials on the website. You can use it for 30 days or 100 uses, whichever comes first. Embird allows you to see the design, resize it, you can split the design and move things around, you can add or merge designs together. You can also download any other type of embroidery design format and convert it to the .pes format. Hope this helps. If you have more questions, just keep on asking. That's how I learned about Ultimate and Embird before I decided to buy them. Laura

You can get the download from a number of sites, including www.embird.com however, I always pay for my registrations for Embird through www.secretsof.com it costs about 20% less to buy the registration through secretsof than through embird.com.... Why, I have no idea... but that's how it works... MO life is too short, not to explore

The Ultimate box is suppose to work with the brother machine also It loaded fine on my computer, but I can not get the pictures to downl;oad on the card that came with it. The card will work with the machine if I ever figure out the download part I looked at purchasing that PED basic But it won't let you edit the pictures Hopefully I get mine to work! |

The Ultimate box works with any machine that uses .pes format, Brother, Babylock, Bernina Deco for sure. SCSU - Are the pictures (designs)that you are trying to download onto the Card in .pes format??? If not, you need to convert them to .pes so you can download them on to the card!!!!! Laura

Just read my manual, and you can also use the Ultimate box for Simplicity and White (.pes) or Husqvarna/Viking (.hus) formats, but the designs being downloaded onto the card must be one of the two formats.

I had the Brother PE 150D, and I purchased the Simplicity Smart Box converter. It worked very well, and I didn't have any problems with it. Now that I bought the White 4400, it is so much easier to just look at my laptop and then adjust the design from there. Happy Sewing!

Thanks everyone for your help I guess I only have the Ultimate box,You need the Ultimate Plus or a converter for Embird to tranfer your files to the card. It still works to use Embird and save to the computer and than download using the ultimate explorer. Thanks |

SCsU,, you don't need the Ultimate Box Plus.. you can do it with the regular ultimate box... its just a little easier to transfer designs from embird to the ultimate box if you have the plus box... but, you can do it with the regular box.. it just adds an extra step or two... I"ll try to remember... I don't use a box anymore since I sold my 150... and my ULT and EMP-6 both use floppies... anyway... edit your design in embird... hten save it to your harddrdive... hten close out of Embird... now open the software that came with your Ultimate box.. if I remember correctly, you'll need ot make sure the card is in the box and htat the box recognizes it... then on the left side of the software... navigate to the design... select it... if I remember correctly, you'll need to double click on the design.. htat will make it appear on the right side of your ultimate box software....select as many designs as you want to write to the card, double click each of them so they show up on the right side.... then on the right side of the software screen... select write designs to card... hope this helps... I don't think I"ve missed anything..LOL... I"m sure someone will let me know if I have... MO life is too short, not to explore

Thank you I have been using it and saving it to my hard drive It seems to work this way I am only using the Embird trail right now, not sure if I'm going to purchase it or not yet. I do like it but have never used anything else to compare. Have a great day |
