Hi Ladies. I'm so excited! Tomorrow I pick up my new sewing machine. Every 10 or so years I upgrade to a nicer model than what I'm using, and this will be my 3rd machine. I'd love to have the Designer SE or Designer I, but I was thrilled with the demo, conveniences and features of the 950E so I ordered one (and not quite so pricey as the Designers). Anyone out there have a 950E? Any tips, advice, comments, experiences? I'd love to hear from you. |

Hey Momof3boysohmy: I can relate. I've got 3 boys myself (ages 23, 20 and 14). They can really keep us busy (even at these ages). Anyway, I picked up my machine on Friday night and have been dabbling with it a little each day. I work fulltime and am very active in my church, so I don't have a lot of extra time. But, so far I do love it. Last night I picked the the 3D Embroidery Studio and reader/writer box. My store was out when I picked up the machine and had to order these. So far I've been playing with the different decorative stitches and some of the embroidery designs that came with the machine. Oh what fun! I can see that this is going to turn into a very time consuming hobby for me. I already love to sew, and this just really expands the creativity. Any advice you have for me? |

Hi All, I'm a newbie here. Got my Platinum 950 about 5 weeks ago. Also bought the whole software package. I seem to be doing ok with the machine, but am flustered with the software. Picking up some things ok, but am feeling really less than intelligent. Has anyone else purchased the software? Is there a suggested order you try to learn them in? The tutorials seem to leave a lot of information out. I have lessons, but I don't think the woman at the store, knows much more than I do. She's promised to set me up with someone else, who knows the software really well, but I'm still waiting. When I bought the machine and software, she didn't tell me I'd need the reader/writer. When I figured that out, she sold me the wrong one! Then they didn't have the one I needed, and it took another week to get the right one. Hrmmmmph!! LOL! My patience wears thin!! I would love to hear anything from someone who has this software. Maybe I'm too anxious! Maybe I have too many options!! I think I just need a direction, but can't figure out where to start! So glad I found this site! Have already ordered a couple of the books (by Twigg) that I had seen recommended here! Sorry this is so long! Hope you all have a great day!! BoomBoom |

BoomBoom, I bought the 3D Embroidery Studio and d-card reader/writer too. Fortunately for me the sales woman told me about the reader/writer and sold me the right one. I've learned its pretty easy to transfer designs back and from from the card to the computer. The only thing that worries me about that is I'm afraid that I might delete something from the card I don't want to delete. I believe the instructions say that when you transfer to a card everything currently on the card will be deleted. So be real careful about that. Also, funny I should read your post today. Just an hour ago I sent a message to Husqvarna asking if there are classes available to teach people to use the software to its fullest. I am overwhelmed with all of it too. There are parts I seem to have no trouble with, and there are other parts I just can seem to figure out how they work. A class would be wonderful. If I hear anything from Husqvarna about that, I'll post it here to you can benefit too. The JoAnn store I bought my machine at has scheduled classes to learn to use the sewing machine itself and its electronic features, but that does not include the software and d-card reader/writer. I plan to ask for help when I'm there though. I'm sure these ladies know how to do this stuff and will be happy to give advice. For as much as the sewing machine, software and reader/writer cost, I want the full benefit from it all. I'm sure you do too. By the way, I love the machine and all of its features. Just need to work on learning about the software. |

Hi SweetPea1, I have a class scheduled on Friday, but it's on digitizing. I didn't think I was ready for that yet, but I'm going to go, and hopefully the instructor will be able to answer some of my other questions. I'd just love to hook up an IV from everyones head to mine, of course, I want instant knowledge and understanding! I have all these ideas in my head i want to release!!! Yes, I'd love to hear anything you find out!! One other note, I did find a group on Yahoo just for the software users, it looks like it will be very helpful! Check it out! Good luck, and I'll keep you informed too! |
