I got up this morning got my shower and headed to Lowe's in McComb (about 30 minutes away) and shopped for flowers!!!!!!!!! Beautiful flowers. Finally I am able to plant things and know it's permenant. When I got to the store I quickly came to the conclusion that plants are not cheap. I wanted to take them all home with me but after getting containers to put them in and soil to plant them in I wasn't able to get all the ones I wanted so it's back to the store next week and the week after that and so on and so on. LOL I can see where our money is going to go for quite a while. I spent over 100.00 and only came home with enough plants to border half my porch. While I was shopping for plants my husband was busy on a bobcat raking the yard of all the roots sticking up so we can plant grass. Can You Believe it I'M Finally Home!!!!!!
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

We went out and bought a new tea kettle...after I melted the last one and ruined my stove too. I bought a different kettle, less expensive.

I also got my dishwasher part in the mail. (time #2...time #1 was the wrong part.)

Now I can cook ,wash dishes and make tea...but who the heck wants to ???

I cut out a pattern, cleaned house, marked some of the pattern, Went outside and tillered up the garden,, ran to Wal-Mart ( 30 min drive) picked up a few items, bought 7 bags of dirt. ran to Pizza Hut and picked up Pizza, then to Mc. D's.. came home to eat,, While eating, added a top snap to DH's shrit that I finished up last night,
back outside, filling up a hole that DS dug out while trying to dig to china... found a fire ant bed, put power on that to kill out. Did a bit of watering, and looking around, found a hole that the dogs dug.. will have to fill that when I get more bags of dirt.
WAter the dirt I put in the hole, and Mystic ( our dog) walk right in the new dirt, had to fill up his prints!.
Oh and I also did some trimming of some shurbs too.
NOticed that I lost 2 rose bushes from the lack of water this winter. but I have Rose of Sheron's that I will replace..

Got DD ready to go To Texas on Spring Brake, ( picked her up from School Friday Night)
became way too dark to plant the onion plants..
Finished marking the pattern.. Ran up town to draw out A bit of Money for DD would have some on her Road trip.
Droped off a Movie at our kin's so they could watch, and sat and talked for a bit.

Since I am still not tired, I think after I get off here, I will start to sew a little bit on the a shirt. ( for myself)

Tomorrow, I will the tiller up the garden once again, then plant onions, tomatoes & bell Peppers. and ponder about the hole in the back yard, and see if I can find any dirt somewhere else to fill the hole up. ( dogs I guess tried to dig out of the fence, but did not get out)
I may even dig up the dead rose bushes,a nd replant with the shurbs.. but woudl like to wait longer on that, as the bushes are about1 ft & 2ft , and we have been so dry.

even in Wisconsin we had a beautiful day, (for Wisconsin) I was at work until closing tonight so I did miss most of the nice weather but the bank across the street showed 60 degrees for a brief moment. I work at a auto parts store and the customers all thought they were getting the BEST of service because we were all so willing to go put headlights and wipers blades on their cars.... Duh!....it was nice out and we didn't want to be inside. Many people got their motorcycles out of storage and were riding. It was torture to me to know that mine is still in storage with a dead battery, no riding for me until I get that charged up. And then I drove home last night with the car window down. it was still 50 degrees out so for me that felt warm. :)

At the end I am not showing up at my grave all pretty and well preserved...I am coming in sliding, yelling "What a ride!"

I worked on making more potholders yesterday and will finish them up today. The first round sold out fast and I sent a second round to the shop and am getting requests for particular colors now so made up five sets of green ones this weekend. I am getting bored with making them and I am not making enuf money on them to take up all this time! LOL I want to get back to some bigger projects.

It was gorgeous here yesterday, 59 and sunny. But I can't work in my yard yet because we still have snowbanks. We went visiting though. It was nice to see some of our friends that we didn't see all winter.

I'm ready for spring!!!!

Since my daughter is here on Spring Break, we spent some time exploring D.C. She got a couple of tee shirts and sweat shirts, saw the White House and the Washington Monument, and some other things. We walked a lot! It was a beautiful day here, too and we had fun. After that, hubby and I went driving around looking a houses.

Susie, I can relate to finally being home--that's wonderful! )

Dragonlady, Spring is here to stay I think. I got up this morning and walked out on my deck and I hear all the birds singing and even heard a woodpecker pecking or whatever they do on the tree. gggggg I love it out here in Hooterville.

The traditional time to start planting here is the end of May!! Until then it is likely to snow or freeze.
It was nice here but I still can't walk much on my sprained knee so we went to the movies.
Friday night when we came in from dinner out there was a message on our answering machine from my husband's "little brother." My husband has been mentoring the kid since he was 8-year-old. He's 15 now. He spent a lot of time here -- most weekends -- growing up, mostly to get away from his mom's boyfriends, his little brother and some temporary "step siblings."
So, anyway we get this call, "I was wondering if you guys wanted to hang out this weekend." It always worries me since most 15-year-olds don't want to hang out with old people. I wonder who he is getting away from. Probably another new boyfriend. The poor woman sure can't pick um.
Wally took him to a store that sells inexpensive clothing for teens and young people and they both came out with bags. I was at JoAnns picking up some notions. They don't have any fabric to speak of in this JoAnns.
Then we went to see the movie Ultra Violet which I would not recommend but Shawn insists it was "awesome."
We came home and I finally started making Lucy the dog a soccer jacket (it's her favorite sport and she is amazingly good at it) while the guys watched Syracuse win some kind of basketball championship.
All in all it was a lovely day.

Susie, I'm so glad to hear you're happy where you're living now.

After I finished doing some cleaning and laundry yesterday, I went for a long walk. It was so warm yesterday. I even got a little sunburn on my face.
I'm loving seeing everything starting to bloom and the trees getting leaves again.
Hubby has already plowed up a garden spot. I am so looking forward to summer.

Went to church today and I was Lay Leader so got to stand in front of the congregation and look at our huge stained glass window with the sun shining through! The minister and I agree it is the best view in the church......
Then Mr. Green Jeans and I went into the city, had lunch at Boston Market....love their spinach.....and then shopped at Sam's Club and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Who doesn't love an afternoon of shopping?
Now we are home and the weather is still comfortable.......but....don't want to burst anyone's balloon but by mid week, here in NW Ohio, we are going to get snow! So winter is not through with us just yet and it sounds like all of us have a huge case of Spring Fever!!!!!!

Yep...the weather this weekend was great...temps were above freezing (approx. 8 degrees C.) and the snow was melting some. Started working on another diaper bag - this time for a friend at work who's DD is having a baby. Then late this aft, I went outside and chopped the ice from my walks. Tomorrow they are forecasting freezing rain early in the morning, then rain and possiby thunderstorms in the afternoon. Right now the fog is so thick I can hardly see my neighbour's house across the street. We have great weather here in the north! :whacky:

It snowed and rained like mad in sunny part of California this week. Yesterday morning being the first great weather in a week, we hit home depot for supply and went up to fix the roof leak.

After that, I went to cut all the blooming Tulips in case of another ice rain tearing them up. They look nice in a vase.

After that, the weather changed so I came in and research online for an old serger I'm hoping to buy.

Oh and my flower/tree purchase from Home Depot and mail order finally topped 2000 bucks. But I found an easy way to save. Buy Perennial instead of annual. Use seeds when I'm not in a hurry. They keep coming back every year and my gardening bill keeps on going down.

Sat was a beautiful day here in Mich. Went to DGD 3 birthday party. Sunday was even a nicer day but I was working from 7 am to 4 pm, so I missed it.
Our ground is not ready for spring planting or cleaning. It is very wet, and still to cold at night. By the end of the week, we shall be back in colder weather, but hey, it was nice for the weekends.

Hi, well yesterday my mom, 2 daughters and I shopped for a dress for my oldest (15) to wear on her FIRST DATE last night. Well, it really wasn't a date-date but there was a Sweet 16 party for alot of her friends and she and "johnny" were both invited so Johnny invited her to go w/him. The girls got ready at another friend's house and the boys met them at the event. We had bought one dress already but Elizabeth decided it was too summery so off we go to find another and it was an all day search. We finally found a lovely black and turqoise dress (know it sounds weird but on her 5'10" body it was stunning) and she had a nice time last night. I have quite a few new grey hairs to go along with it this morning but I'll live. She made Varisty cheerleader at try outs on Friday so she had a great weekend!! My brother is moving this week to start his new job so he was at my parent's house this weekend so we got to see him as well :)
Today was church, lunch at Chili"s and then some shopping --I am now the proud owner of a "birds the word" Elmo. My 22 month old is attached to Elmo now..I did get my strips of fabric and batting cut for the basket I am making for the little one for Easter..
Hope everyone else had a nice weekend! It's supposed to rain here tomorrow and then be back in the 60's the rest of the week. It was in the 80's today and yesterday.

Our weather has been in the 80's here so have worked outside & in both. This weekend DH finished up building the dock on the lake. Not your standard dock either. It's larger than most & has railings around it so a nice size deck as well. Reason for that is grandma is a nervous nellie like she was with her own chicks. Our 2 youngest GK's just turned 7 & I wanted them safe. They love the lake but there is not only fish & turtles but also gators in there. I also planted large marigolds & geraniums in front of some lattice work on the side yard. I want to get a lot more to plant out front. I rearranged the sewing room a little & the spare bedroom a lot. We haven't had rain in quite awhile so I have to water the plants a lot now. Oh, we have 2 nice tomato plants that came up by one of the royal palms. We make our own compost & that's how they came to be. Very healthy looking so far. Every year we get cantalopes in the oddest places :whacky: but they are so good. :bg:

Black and turquoise sounds wonderful for a dress...and if shes that tall I bet she can wear anything...
It was 80 yesterday and 80 today...our one week in March where we turn the a/c on and then freeze the rest of the month. (freeze as in below 50...-I- don't freeze...everyone else does...I've had perfect strangers tell me to wear a coat, it's cold...Okie...)
I can tell it's spring...all the ferrets are shedding...(yay :whacky: )

I went to the mall with my friends while my dh stayed at home with dd and ds. I had to find an outfit to wear to a bat mitzpha for my half-sister, I actually found something that I would wear again. I cant believe that the mall doesnt really sell dresses anymore, pants and more pants and these gaucho things. Well at least I found a nice shirt and dress pants, sandals, purse and accessories. I found my sons clothes and daughters as well, now we are all set to go at the end of this month.

I just cant believe that my little sister is growing up so fast, she is twelve and I am 29 with two kids, god do I feel old. The rest of the weeekend I vegetated, cause yesterday was cold and wet so we all stayed in. Hopefully we will continue to get the good days and less of the winter yuck.

MIL, since we know what's in the compost I'll eat those mellons anyday. LOL. Also am an ole farm gal born & raised. Jim says that's why I love digging in the dirt & growing stuff. I never bought dirt in my life until we moved here. We lack everything except sand here. I'm with you about coats & cold. Just can't take the cold anymore at all. Once my bones get cold I can't get warm again. Snow is beautiful when it first falls but yucky after people are out in it. I'll sweep up sand anyday before the mud & slush is brought into the house. The gray cloudy days depresses me something awful. Jim says I survive on fresh air & sunshine. Think he's right. :re:

LOL
I am a northern Canadian and can't believe those of you who live in hotter climates!
You say you couldn't live here? How often to you go out and about when it is really hot and do you have air conditioning in your houses?
You know we don't actually live in igloos. Instead of air conditioning we have furnaces, and in my case, one on a programmed timer so that my house is always comfortable without having to run to change the thermostat.
We have whole wardrobes of warm outdoor clothing which we don automatically when we go out. AND, we lose 10-15 lbs every spring when we don't wear boots or parkas! Fact of the matter is, I go from house to car, car to shop or another person's house so am not really outside much. It is very refreshing.
I am rarely cold when out doors unless there is a wind blowing. I can't find anything refreshing about the heat. Even the air seems to burn when breathing and no clothes seem to be comfortable! When I am cold I can always put more clothing on, but one can only go down to the skin when it is hot!

It's a good thing we are all different or the earth would change it's movements if we were all in one place!

Nancy...I'm with you. I'd rather have the cold. Love that programmable thermostat for both the furnace and air-conditioning. I get up early in the summer and sit on the deck in the cool morning air....but when the daytime heat & humidity starts...I'm like those in the hotter climates...shut myself indoors with the air-conditioning on. And the older I get the more I hate the heat.

Hey Gals, We have central air & heat, Yes there are times we need a little heat. If it gets much below 70 most people have it on. We live real close to the Gulf & have a lake in back so we have wonderful breezes so we don't run the ac unless the humidty gets really high & there isn't much breeze. I was raised in Missouri & it was hot in the summer & higher humidity than here plus real cold winters. I also lived in Washington State & it was cold there as was Indiana & Illinois. Germany was the worse. So I know what cold & hot is for sure. I always hated being bundled up with all those coats & such. Just different strokes for different folks is all. I used to drive on snow & ice also & thought nothing of it. When the tourist come down here they can't drive in the rain. They don't realize that after the hot pavement & rain hits it, the oil from cars makes it slick as ice. :nervous: Once I get cold it takes forever for me to get warm again. The cold just seeps into my bones. I think it's great different people like different things. Sure would be boring if we all liked the same things.
