I'm trying to put in a photo of the reversible jacket I made with the edges serged with wooly nylon. That is not a printed pattern it is threads stitched on like blackwork embroideryhttp://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e212/DorothyLong/jacket.jpg

Thank you. It's cool, now I can show off. But I can't knit innards -- or anything but a scarf.

Christina --
I didn't mean for it to be so big. But it does show how great the wooly nylon Laura suggested looks.

I use fray check when it will be sewn over but for these I stitched the tails down with the sewing machine -- few stitches back and forth -- before I cut them. The wooly nylon really ravels.

Laura --
Lucy is a Jack Russell Terrier. They are extremely smart dogs and very active. Very, very active. She is also very spoiled, as you can see. Those are SET IN sleeves. FOR A DOG!!
Laura, I was never in the shape of my dolls.
I have three dolls. I make them clothes out of the scraps every time I make something. Well, not every time. Like with the dog jacket, the print is just too big and it is getting to the point of not having a place to put the clothes.
I'm considering giving one of the dolls and a bunch of the clothes to the neighbor girl.
The dolls are 15 inches tall -- bigger than Barbie -- and considered collectibles. Two were made by Robert Toner. A third one is a cheap cartoon character.
I just make the outfits, take a photo and put the last outfit away. The latest creation sits on the shelf in my sewing room until I make another. My daughter thinks I'm a little weird to still play with dolls.

Dorothy Lucy looks a lot like my Sophie who is Jack Russell Terrier and Corgie so I know what you mean by very active. If she's not outside patrolling her end of the neighborhood she's in the house pestering me or her daddy to play with her. She's very active but a very good girl in the house all day while we work. And, the jacket is lovely. Good work!

Beautiful work on the Jacket!!!!! Lucy is a cutie in her new "sports" coat.
I worked with a women who has a Jack Russell and she would always have to keep Katie well stocked in all sizes of balls, both inside and out just to keep her entertained and out of trouble. Katie was a hole digger when bored, is Lucy one?

Lucy is a bit of a hole digger, not too bad though. And she is good about knowing the difference between her stuff and ours when she is alone. I think she mostly just sits and looks out the window when she is alone.
She does love to play. Small balls inside but she has her big ball outside that she plays soccer with. We had to go with a basket ball instead of a soccer ball though. She tends to eat the new, softer skins of the soccer balls. She did manage to chew the skin off and pop the basket ball but it took a little longer. It was funny the first time she tried to stop the basket ball with her head. Darn near knocked her out. They are harder than soccer balls. Now she uses her chest or front paws (technically cheating I know but so is making her play with a basket ball). She has great control by running and pushing the ball with her nose. She goes from side to side to keep it in a relatively straight line. Everyone who sees her wants to make a video for the Animal Planet's Funniest Animal Videos.
The neighbor kids come over and play with her a lot. She can out run them and it takes at least two, sometimes three to make an equal match.
You can see I'm a proud mom.

Thanks. But it was really the fabric that made the jacket.
I was in the fabric store last week and the same fabric -- probably the same bolt -- that I paid almost $8 a yard for was marked down to under $4. I just hate that.
