Hi everyone. My husband and I are driving from MA to VA in a couple weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions for something I could work on in the car as there are only so many magazines I can read? LOL Obviously it would have to be something small...also not too complicated. Thanks for any suggestions.
If I had known that grandchildren were so much fun, I would have had them first!!

Hi...I did cross stitching eons ago...I would like to stick to quilting or sewing. I have heard of a pattern to make quilted coasters but have been unable to find it anywhere.

I plan to make some of the Jinny Beyer quilt balls when I travel this year. I plan to cut out the pieces, put them in small separate plastic bags with mini instructions. I will stuff them when I get home. I would like to hear any other suggestions, as well.

How about starting a grandmother's flower garden? There are different ways to do them. I am using the English paper piecing method but you would have to prepare your pieces in advance. But there are other methods of doing it that you might look into. Another idea is to do some some hand applique work, e.g. try a wall hanging. If you have never tried hand appliqué, you could consider doing some practicing on your trip! Just some thoughts!

Yo Yos (http://www.sewnews.com/resources/qa/qa1104b/)!!! The multi-use, scrap consuming, time filling craft. I take Yo Yos wherever I go.

Good morning everyone.

Sancin...what are Jinny Beyer balls? I am new to quilting and have never heard of them. Thanks.

Pudge...I have seen YoYo's for sale on eBay but never thought of making them. Thanks for the idea. They look easy enough for even me to tackle.

Thanks everyone and have a great day!

Here are some ideas I got from the Hancock Fabric website. Unless I goofed, none of them need the sewing machine.

I also vote for yo-yos.  I've made many many of them while waiting for kids at school and practices. I even made a bunch of them while riding a bus on a school field trip with dd.
