Marti --
I have a bay that has beautiful sculpted woodwork, all the natural wood, built in 1849. It is too beautiful to cover up so I have those rods that fit with a spring inside the windows themselves with simple straight cotton curtians They are inexpensive and quick to whip up so I change them often.

I've seen it done 1/2 a dozen ways...sheers on EACH window. Blinds on each window. Curtains on each window. Blinds, curtains FRAMING the whole bay, to pull across. Sheers on each, with curtains framing to pull across.
A custom valance above the bay itself, with curtains over each window.
Or simple rods above each window, with curtains on each window.

My neighbor has blinds on each window and a custom valance. (it's in the eat in kitchen part, so it's not like a 'show piece' of a window....personally I don't like it...) I prefer curtains....

I love the look and feel of a bay window! When we did ours we were on a pretty tight budget. We really couldn't afford to have curtains made or even a custom rod. I took measurments, put a long hook in each corner of the bay and bent a straight rod over a chair back to make the rod. It lasted for years! I did put in custom blinds in each window. I love the look and airy look of sheers in a bay but you'll find a variety of treatments available! I hope you really enjoy your new home!
