I consider myself an experienced sewer, HA! I have been fighting with my machine for an hour, saying very unchristian things to it, because I could not get rid of the thread globs made by my bobbin. I rewound fresh bobbins, I cleaned it , I oiled it, I played with the tension and nothing worked. In wanders my DH and says causually, "Have you rethreaded it" Needless to say it worked and shoould have been the first thing I tried. Oh well, an hour wasted, but a sparkling clean machine..... |

You know, I have had similar situations happen (not just with sewing) and hubby has the most simple answer which works. I always try to over analyze problems. I hate it when I end up with a bird's nest and more so when I don't realize it until I have done quite a bit and have to take it ALL out. It stinks! Julie

Um, if I'm having problems like that or don't know how to solve something, I've found that it's best for me to walk away for even a few minutes (for some reason, bathroom breaks work GREAT for this - but then, so do snack or water breaks), and by the time I get back, I know what needs to be done and it works like a charm. |

I had my brother drive over across town to look at a lamp I had trouble with. Turns out it wasn't plugged in (behind the couch)! When I was working with computers I was told it was amazing how many times repair people were called in and the customer had just forgotten to turn the monitor on. It happens to all of us. |

Though I have done some pretty stupid things in my time, like trying to start the car when it's already running, or putting the coffee pot into the fridge, stuff like that. Laura

whome554...Welcome to Sew What's New. There is a Beginner Quilting and a General Quillting forum where you can ask your quilting questions and someone will be sure to give you some help. There are some lessons on this site and I know of a few other good sites as well. Here are some links: SWN Quilting=32 (http://sew-whats-new.com/CMS/index.php?option=content&task=section&id=2&Itemid=32) http://easymade.com/video_basic.html http://www.quilterscache.com/ (click on the dropdown box and go to the lessons.) Hope this helps. Good Luck. TTFN from
