My husbands grandmother has been giving me all kinds of sewing project to do for her bathroom(she has never been a sewer and thinks it is awesome I sew) So I have done some simple embroidery with a friends machine on towels and made a foot towel for her floor, last night I made matching tiolet accesories!! They came out pretty darn good, I am going to try and get a picture of them before I give them to her. I hope she doesnt come up with anything else since I really have neglected the pageant dress I started on two weeks ago. Has any one done bathroom accessories?? I used terry cloth so it would all match. The only problem is it is sooooo thick and bunches up even thicker.

Stephi

I hate starting a project and having to stop because it is 12:30 at night, LOL!!

I really enjoy doing the towels! When I discovered bath mats (the heavy terry type) my family nearly went nuts with all the ones I did. I really enjoy those!

Sound like wonderful projects. And, I hope the grandmother appreciates your time and talents. I just got an embroidery machine and can't wait to try all that fun and decorative stuff. Glad to here your projects turned out so nice and look forward to seeing pictures.

I made a bath mat featured in Sew News a few years ago, and that was rather fun. I'm thinking of working on one bathroom at a time to give them personal touches. We'll see if I actually go through with this, but I want to do the bathroom next to the boy's nursery and get them a bath mat as well, using the same idea from what I did earlier.

I've done bathroom make overs a number of times. First time I just had a straight stitch old Singer. Turned out great.Of course that set didn't have embroidery work on it. I'm sure your grandma is very proud of you and will love the things you made for her. Who knows, maybe she'll want to learn to sew.

I had some really wide peach skin fabric in green blue stripes with a water colory look to them and made a shower curtain. I bought some quilters cotton with fish, some with sea horses, some with sea shells and some with playful mermaids and did appliques all over the shower curtain. Then, with the scraps I made curtains for the window -- no applique there.
I still have some fabric left over. How did you make the bath mat, Tica?

I know it isnt as glitzy as the ones you normally see but it sure is comming out pretty cute. You are supposed to use a strech material, but they didnt have any with hearts on it and this was so cute and cheap!! I need to put the hook and eyes in and put the zig zag along the edge of the sleeves and bottom of the skirt!!!

Stephi

Rest is what happens while shopping for more material!!!!!

very cute!

I used wash clothes cut in half and then sewed it into squares using my sewing machine. Then I sewed the little squares together by hand. It actually turned out very well. I just want to go back to that one now and make it bigger. We've moved into a different house and the bathroom is much bigger.

the issue I got it from (http://www.sewnews.com/issuex/index0404/)

That's the issue I got it from, to the side you can see a picture of the cover and that's what my bath mat looks like, except I have sage green, a rose color, and I believe a light yellow in my mat. It's quite a fun and simple project.

Stephi the dress is really cute! But I have a question - you mean you actually STOP sewing after midnight??? I think there's a number of us that would have to admit to sewing all through the night on occasion. Welcome to the addiction Stephi!!

If you have a family, night is the best time to sew!

For those of us with little ones, nap time is the best time to sew. Who cares about silly little things like chores?

I guess I was an addict's addict then.. When mine were small, I sewed all of naptime, and then after I got them into bed at night , I went back to sewing til I had to stop because the light or noise disturbed (then) DH sleep... :bg: :bg:
