HI ALL--just wanted to share something I learned yesterday. I went to a military wives Women's Conference and there were different little "mini-workshops" you could pick and chose from. I went to a "decorating on a budget" little workshop and it was SO interesting.
The lady talked about the principle that "less is more" but of course, it depends on everyone's taste as to how they decorate. She gave some nifty ideas about covering a blank wooden canvas in some decorative upholstery fabric and hanging on the wall. It gives the illusions of artwork and can bring a room together. She had some good ideas for window treatments and doing them on a budget and also shopping for fabric in remnants which I do already. I just thought it was interesting some of the tips she had especially for the wall hanging. I am one of those "put everything you have out on display" type person b/c I feel obligated to have everything everyone has given me out. I am now on a mission to decide what imparticular I just love and put the rest away.
She also talked about (this would more apply to renting a home and hating the kitchen floor covering) about using the stick on linoleum squares.
Anyway, just thought I'd share a few of the tips. I know there are more but now that I had a minute to sit down and type I cannot remember all of them (will add more as I think of them.)
Hope you guys are all having a wonderful day!! :)

Good day all, it's been a while.

Most of us have budgets and in time, we all learn to look for bargains. I've started buying recycled paint and it is very affordable. I don't think all stores carry it but it's worth looking around. I painted 3 rooms (9x9, 16X18 and 12x12), 2 coats and ceiling paint, for under $120. That included a couple of paintbrushes and an extra tray. I always lurk in the remnants rooms and there are great deals to be had. Wait for sales wherever I shop.
