Could someone please help me figure out how to hoop pillow shams? I can get them stabilized and hooped but I can't figure out how to do it and have enough room to actually monogram them. They are standard size and are split down the middle. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I'm not sure what you're asking...so I'm gonna tell you what I think anyway..
(drugs talking...again)

when you have your sham in front of you, it's hooped and stabilized. Get the sides out of the way by turning them inside out and rolling the leftover fabric in the roll outs...(make sense ?) That way you can see what your doing and won't get the fabric caught...(also used for sweatshirts and t-shirts)

Hi LM...exactly what chrys says here...I will add that I have used rubber bands..straight pins...safety pins or whatever it takes to get the extra fabric out of the way...and I sit with the embroidery to make sure it is not getting in the way of the moving arm and not too heavy for the hoop...If it is kind of heavy I actually hold the fabric as it is embroidering...in other words....whatever it takes to keep the fabric from getting caught..it works...it really is not hard...let us know how you do....:) Ria

I'm terrible...I tend never to pin things, I stab myself too much. What you could use is clippies, like for your hair...they're small and don't damage the fabric.

Hi Chrys...isn't it funny the habits we have...I dont have one hair clip in the house because I wear my hair short LOL....on the other hand...I use pins for everything...I guess it is because I sew so much and quilt and am so used to it...Oh yes...I stab myself...everything has blood on it....((laughing hard))
whatever works....:) Ria

I safety pin my quilts and straight pin clothing patterns, but I don't pin anything else...just about everything I make gets blood on it too. :whacky:

Thats why my rotary cutter has a blade you can lock away. One woman I was in a class with, slashed her face with one, because she was brushing her hair back and didn't realize the blade was out on her cutter.

I keep clippies...I keep my hair to my shoulders..I just can't do the short haired old lady look. (my mother and grandmother always favored.) Not that it's a bad look...some people look wonderful with short hair, I'm just not one of them....

Hmmmm clothes pins...what are those? ....LOL.....I used to love to hang out my sheets...but now the age of the dryer has taken us.....and hmmmmmmm.
you call short hair "old ladies hair"......((((laughing hard)))) actually my hair is very stylish....LOL....I used to have hair down below my waist and I loved it but too hard to care for...I love braids though....sometimes I wish I had it back but not in summer....thanks for the laughs.....:) Ria
