I am having trouble tonight with chain piecing...i cant seem to the thread to stop breaking in between pieces...i will get 5 or so chained then the thread will break now i am getting one chained with the starter fabric and when i put the next piece under the presser foot (not raising the presser foot but letting it feed) it breaks..

Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with doing the chain...have you changed your needle, rethreaded your machine? Usually if my thread is breaking it's either a threading problem or needle problem. Good luck, I know it's frustrating!

I found out what the problem was...i was using serger thread and not quilting thread...once i changed to quilting thread and re sewed each piece i was able to chain stitch all 42 pieces no problem.

Glad you figured it out Jada, I keep my serger thread in a box so didn'teven think you might have the threads mixed up. Glad you were able to do what you wanted to get done.
