GRRRRR---well, it's been one of those mornings--to make a long story short, we are in an apartment--it's a bigger apartment (about 1800 sq feet) and we pay WAYYYYY too much rent but it's OK. I had a hysterectomy back in Oct and when hubby went back to work, I went to Alabama so my mother could help me with the baby. I also had an unexpected bladder repair to boot so it was a rough few weeks. During this time, the ceiling in my bathroom started leaking water. We're downstairs and had new upstairs neighbors move in. Hubby called me and told me about it and it was in the middle of the night that it happened. He said that the garden tub was running upstairs when it was leaking. So he called the leasing office, they came and said they "fixed it" and for several months now, it has leaked periodically always in the middle of the night. Again, they'd come up, say they fixed the problem and so forth...I have been telling them and telling them that sooner or later the ceiling was going to start falling apart and sure enough, it has! Last night, we were sound asleep, the garden tub upstairs woke us up and then the water starts leaking. Why they are taking tub baths in the middle of the night is beyond me but I guess to each his own, huh? So my husband gets up this AM and goes up to the leasing office himself instead of calling and within 5 minutes someone was down here. I am standing there amongst pieces of ceiling in my pajamas and I had to bite my tonque to keep from spitting fire! We have just a bit longer to live here and that's it! Had I known we were going to be here for 4 yrs (instead of 2) we would've bought a house. I love the apartment but for the money we pay (almost $1000/mth) it's ridiculous that a few times a month, the ceiling leaks and now is falling down. GEEZ, I feel like Chicken Little! Just needed to vent--thanks for listening. I really am a half way nice person but don't have on my nice person face today at all!! LOL!

I hope you are able to get into a house soon (although an 1800 sf apartment sounds good to me), but unfortunately all living has some difficulties at some time or other. The biggest problem we have here in PG is lack of handimen and tradesmen to come an fix jobs that require fixing. While I, though necessity, used to do a lot of my own repairs aging joints prevent me from doing most now. I am gritting my teeth at having to pay someone to paint this summer.

The water at night may have started during the day and leaked through various construction material at night, finally weaking it all. I own and live in townhouse complex and have a one story unit, next door is a two story unit and it has had no end of water problems from the bathroom, of which they are responsible to maintain themselves. Several owners and patch up jobs finally led to taking the shower and the wall out behind the shower, only to find the water was leaking from a weak pipe join to the shower. As the units have fibreglass shower stalls, it was not easy to find the leak and the water had no where to do but down.

You probably could care less what caused it, just wanting it to stop but other's may have or will run into the same situation.
I understand and support your ventilating!!
