I am close to being done and I cannot figure this pattern out. This is my first time making a dress and I dont get some of the things they mean. OK Starting with #41 I am ready to pin the interfacing onto my dress (childs) and when I pin it down it will go OVER the shoulder strap. It even says in the pattern to go over the strap. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/indianasarah/DSC04463.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/indianasarah/DSC04461.jpg Can someone explain this to me Here are some pictures of my dress This is my dress and I am about to stitch the interfacing onto it http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/indianasarah/DSC04464.jpg BUT- see my shoulder strap -----its gonna be covered and then sewn OVER Do I cut around it ??????? http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/indianasarah/DSC04465.jpg #42 #43 http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a231/indianasarah/DSC04462.jpg ok then...............am I basically flipping over the interfacing onto the WRONG (inside) of the dress and then sewing it down ??? |

So what was the explanation? This was weird-looking to me too. Thanks! she had the strap sewn on the wrong way...both of the raw edges on the strap and dress should be matching that way when you fold over the facing to the back the strap stands up right. jada |

Right. The seam line should be facing the edges. She had finished and sewn the strap up toward the seamline. It should have been basted into the garment (optional) with the strap facing toward the garment and the strap seam allowance lining up with the edges of the garment. Then she would sew, catching the strap in the seam allowance as she sewed, permanently afixing the strap to the garment. Then when you turn the facing, the strap is in the proper position.
