The film crew from COP's was here....for 2 wks and found it so boring they went home.... :bg: :bg: :bg:
They thought by reading the stats the sheriff's dept puts on it's web site, they were gonna see some action. If they'd just asked us 'locals' first, we would have saved them a trip. The only BIG thing that goes on here all the time is running red lights and getting hit. Or getting in fender benders, because you aren't paying attention to the road. (clear or rainy..) Rolling your car in the grassy medians or hitting the back of a dump truck are a couple of good ones...I don't know why they found that all boring... :dave:
They were here for spring break....and even THAT was boring. (hardly anyone was here this year...thank heavens for that...)

Maybe they should come to Chicago....and visit the Dan Ryan Expressway which is all but closed! Traffic & fender benders galore....

I'd rather take boring than crazy any day. When we moved here 9 years ago, it was a "small" town of about 8,000. I think last census count made it 30,000 people. I grew up in Chicago (lived there 30+ years), but don't regret leaving it. Urban "sprawl" is taking over so much, that we are thinking of moving again.

Guess they'll learn to not go by statistics! I got tickled once b/c my girlfriend was watching a COPS episode filmed down in the St. Pete area and saw them repsond to her PARENT'S house where her dad had a diabetic emergency. She and her husband were stationed in Austrailia at the time! What a coincidence huh?? She said she called up her folks and said "so, what's been going on" and got the "nothing much" comment and then said "hmmmm..no hospital trip??"
We'll be coming your way, Chrys hopefully soon! I"m having beach fever!

If yer lucky you might get to 'see' the beach from the car. There are so many condo's going up, they're still working on 98 (trying to keep it from washing out during hurricanes...traffic is down to one lane each way), and the hotels have put up fences to keep people from using the beach in 'hotel property' lines....
I'm glad I'm allergic to the sun and cannot go to the beach...too much of a pain these days. (but then so's the traffic.)

My husband and I saw the apts we lived in on COP's once. (we lived in Vegas for 4 yrs in a 400 apt complex near UNLV...whata nightmare somtimes...).
Funny what you can see on t.v. these days...

While my son was here last week he saw a little old lady in a big white caddy driving up the wrong side of the street. She was getting honks and waves and just went on with cars dodging her! Finally they got her stopped and turned around. He said mom you need to get out of this crazy old people place!!!

Chrys when we were down there this time last year, I noticed there was alot of building going on. My oldest had a cheerleading competition so we were pretty busy with that. We made it to the beach a couple of times during our stay but not for that long each time. The water was FREEZING! It appeared that there was still quite a bit of hurricane damage/construction going on then.

This yr they're DREDGING sand for the beaches....they washed out in all the hurricanes last yr. We have at least 6 new condos going up near the conference center. (across the street)...it's always a ness down here.
Theres either hurricanes or recovering FROM hurricanes....luckily I live inland.
I just have to worry about my new roof, fence, landscaping, etc...all due to last yr and the yr before's hurricanes..

Ok, I'm sitting here thinking WHERE will they put new condos across from the civic center? I don't remember a whole lot of space left!
