I'm sorry I know I am asking a lot of questions here but I am only a year into embroidery so I do need help from time to time...I would love to talk to someone who has the 6500....what I need to know is what is the largest hoop I can use on it...I was about to order the 130mm x300mm ( 11.8 x 5.1 )but then I noticed that the ped basic does not allow that size...it only goes up to 6 1/4 x 10 1/4...I also realize that I should download the newer version of PED Basic....I am worried about doing it on the xp as I have heard others had trouble with it.....any help would be greatly appreciated....I also have Embird but I need to be able to use the PED to get the designs to the machine..And the PED only allows 4 x 4 --4 2/3 x4 1/2---5 x 7 ---6 1/4 x 10 1/4 so I am really confused...I know if the hoop size isnt set right when uploading to the card then the machine will reject it.....thanks for any and all help......Ria

Ria, I have PED-Basic. I downloaded the update and I have had no problems at all. My operating system is XP and I also have that service pack doodad and like I said, I have had no problems. Downloading the update did help solve a problem I was having with purchased designs. Many times designs would show up as "no sewing data" in place of the image. Once I downloaded the update, that problem was solved. I cannot help you with hoop size...sorry. |

Can anyone help me out? I need to upgrade my PED BAsic and have a few questions for anyone having xp operating system and PED Basic.... I need to uninstall my PED basic and upgrade it....I read where I need the service pack 5 for my xp to install it correctly...I tried to install the service pack 5 today and it says it takes 12 hours...is that correct? also is it the Visual Studio Express (serv pk 5) that I am supposed to install? Seems like there were several different serv pk 5's which confused me...any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks...Ria Ria

Ria, The only service pack I have is I believe number 2 or maybe it's three. I did not even know there was a service pack 5. When I did my update not upgrade, it was easier than I thought. I created a temp folder on my drive c, and downloaded the update to that folder. After downloading, I uninstalled PED-Basic (unplugging the box etc). Found the temp folder, right clicked on my mouse and chose run and and followed the screen instructions. When it's all done, apparently when you reconnect your box, the box knows "what to look" for. I hope it works out for you. Are you on a dial up server? Perhaps that why it will take so long. I was never prompted to install any other service packs. |

I guess I should reply on here again to let everyone know that I was so wrong on the service pack...it wasnt five ( I think someone on another board said 5 and it stuck in my head ) it was service pack 2 you need on xp to upload the newer version of ped basic...anyways..I stopped the download on 5 and did the 2 and the ped basic upgrade and it all went smooth as silk..so anyone needing to do this do not worry...it is easier than the directions on the upload page says....thanks everyone for your patience and help... Ria.. if you downloaded service pack 2 and had absolutely no problems, count yourself very lucky!! service pack 2 can react badly if you have any spyware or viruses on your computer..... ask me how I know!! LOL.... hope all is working well now... btw... be aware.. there is a huge difference between and "update" and an "upgrade" updates generally are free..... upgrades usually are not.... an example of an "upgrade" would be going from pedbasic to pedesign-6.... an "update" is basically keeping the same "version" and just adding some minor enhancements generally relating to existing functions... hope I haven't confused you more.... MO life is too short, not to explore
