I was fooling around and made this. I used glue to hold it together since I couldn't fit it on the sewing machine http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e212/DorothyLong/c5a38ad8.jpg I got some fabric that looks like someone spilled coffee all over it -- that fake batik or tie dye print cotton. I thought I'd make a fabric bowl and then make coasters with cotton batting and satin-stitched-edge-stitched like the bowl. I might even cut them shaped like a spill. They could be kept in the fabric bowl when not in use. The stains on the coasters won't matter since the fabric already looks like something messy was wiped up with it. I thought it would be a nice house warming gift for my daughter and her neat nut boyfriend when they move to Brooklyn. What do you think? Dorothy |

Very nice Dorothy What will you use the one in the picture for? I think the bowl/coasters would make a lovely gift. I really enjoy making the bowls. Take care. NanaBear still working on her first Ottobre pattern |

I love the fabric - oriental looking. Would make a neat vase for dried flowers I think.

I thought I'd get some fake reeds or something like that and put it on a small table under a picture of King Tut I got at the state fair. I was just messing around and found this fabric in the bottom of a box of fat quarters. Dorothy |

I like this very much, Dorothy. It seems to be fairly tall. Have you thought of dried grasses (very in in gardens these days) and perhaps a bull rushes? - may need a few rocks in the bottom to stablize it. Would keep with the King Tut theme (which I like very much).

Thank you all. I was really just kind of playing around with it. The glue really got me going. It was kind of messy and is still dried on my cutting board. It was a fun project but I think the next thing of that sort I make will be a small bowl -- no glue. Dorothy |
