Is it possible to ask to see some embroidery samples? I'm interested in what kind of work can be done with an emb. machine.
Thank you!
- Maureen.

Here are a few things I've done. The toothbrush bags were done entirely in the hoop, including inserting the zipper!!

Greendragonlady, I emailed your pics to my daughter who keeps saying, why do you want an embroidery machine, they cost so much money. Well, she emailed me today with a different tune to be sure!! LOL....says she won't hassle me about wanting a machine now as long as I'm willing to embroider stuff for her! Silly girl!

GDL....Lovely work. The recipients are lucky people!

Lyn....Touché...you can always suggest that IF she pays half THEN you will embroider whatever she wants

Very nice GDL.
Maureen, todays machines can do whatever you can imagine with new software coming out everyday to make it easier and even more versatle.(last weeks release lets us just color in a picture on a sketch pad and send it to the machine. No more digitizing as we have come to know it).Awesome. Figure out what you intend to do with the machine and then go around to the dealers in your area and have them show you what theirs can do. Quality and ease of use vary from machine to machine but quality of embroidery really doesn't anymore since the quality of embroidery(assuming the operator is using proper thread and stabilizer) is determined by the digitizing and we can now use nearly any design on nearly any machine. I would suggest to make sure you purchase the machine where you can get lots of help. Ask lots of questions and if you don't get good clear answers go somewhere else where they know the product better. If they can't help you when you are looking to buy they won't be able to help when you have a problem or quetion. Check on available accessories and make sure the ones you'll want are available for the machine. For instance. available hoops today range from about 1" in diameter all the way up to about 11" x 11" It is also wise to get a machine that is upgradeable(free. over the internet). That way you won't be outdated before you get it home.
You're looking at a new world of creativity. If you decide to get one you won't regret it.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

Tom -
Pam had mentioned in an earlier post that Brother may be coming out with an embroidery-only machine in the future. Do you know anything about it?
I'll wait till we move to FL (Ft. Myers area) and get all our finances settled (the IRS got us this year with our increased income in 2005). It seems there are more dealers in the FL area than our current home. I visited the one dealer near our house and he barely spoke a word to me and when I asked him a question he wasn't very nice. Needless to say, I never went back.
If there is one thing I have learned thru this forum is to take your time when looking at machines, test drive, never buy the first one you see and to get it from a dealer. I've sewn a little in the past and am doing very well with my Kenmore (I know a couple people that own Kenmores - extra resources) but embroidery is a new world for me. I don't mind waiting a little longer to see what Brother comes out with but their customer service reps say they don't know anything about an upcoming embroidery only machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- Maureen.

I contacted Pfaff because Tom mentioned that they were coming out with an embroidery only machine. It is due out in early June. There is one on their UK site that you can check into to at least view it. I'm waiting to see it as I've been really impressed with all that these machines can do.
