I made polymer clay buttons once that turned out great. Maybe I'll make some decorative buttons to go at the bottom outside seam of some capris I'm going to make. That clay is really fun because you can cook it in your oven. Dorothy |

I went to a local trunk showing from a local Bernina Instructor-Designer a few years ago.. She showed a dress she made from fabric that she had stenciled. The stencil was steaming cups of coffee.. She had a friend who did polymer clay and the friend made buttons for the dress.. They were coffee beans... Cutest outfit ever..

I use the small sheets that come in boxes (there are different brands) and after I use one in my dryer I smooth it out and save it. I keep a stack of them in one of the sewing cabinet drawers because they are so useful. I put one underneath my embroidery area when I am doing freemotion embroidery--any kind of FME, like yarn embroidery, ribbon embroidery, whatever. I spray it with some spray starch and it clings to the fabric. I then put the embroidery in a hoop and it makes it much easier to work on. I also use them underneath when I am doing trapunto, too. It works well when making buttonholes and sewing on the buttons, snaps, etc. MariLynntex |
