Well, to deviate away from politics, religion and to lighten the conversation, I thought I'd ask how your Friday's are going?? Ours has been nice--hit a 50-70% sale at my favorite Children's store, lunch at the Olive Garden and then a run into Toys R Us for a swim suit for the little one. Anybody sewing today?? I'm gonna get started here in a few minutes and try to finish up a few projects I have going... Julie

Took a bunch of kids around the Henry Moore Foundation. Fantastic statues in the rolling Hertfordshire countryside. Guided tour of the studios followed by sitting and sketching the bronzes - I took my paints and managed a couple of quick watercolour sketches. nice. http://www.henry-moore-fdn.co.uk/matrix_engine/content.php?page_id=31 We went to the Perry Green site. love and kisses, Jan

I took the day off. This week I tuned up the lawn mower. Did all the laundry. Mowed the lawn. Did weed/feed and killed some weeds in the rocks. (around my house etc.). Watered. Cleaned the house. Cleaned up after the ferrets (the usual potty problems, food, digging litter, etc). Food shopped. Did errands...so I decided I needed today to do nothing. (since I'm allergic to the sun, the lawn, my shrubs, the bugs that bite me and the heat makes me ill. I need some time to recouperate...that was today....laying in the dark, with the a/c and the air filter going.) Chrys

First thing for me this morning (9:00 a.m.) was a dental appoint. Thought I was only going in for a cleaning and ended up having some minor surgery done (bone extrusions removed without anesthetic, by the way); then went to work with just Advil for the pain. Had a 26 page brief waiting for me that had to be done by 1:00 p.m. so it could be hand delivered to a federal court; by 3:30 p.m. I was in a lot of pain so came home, took a pain pill and continued working on the linens I'm embroidering for my ladies spring tea May 6. At 7:30 dh suggested that we take a trip to Hobby Lobby to look for the rest of the stuff for my table center piece. I'm making a miniature rose garden on a mirror for my table centerpiece this year since our theme is "Tea & Roses. Now I'm back in my sewing room to hopefully finish the embroidery on my last two napkins tonight so I can wash, starch and iron tomorrow and hopefully finish my centerpiece; then I'll get my china, crystal and silerware out and get it washed, packed and ready to go then I'll work on putting my 2nd table together which is going to be yellow, green and white (garden theme). Well, I started the day with the tree guys and a 90 foot crane to remove the final three pine trees in my yard... I don't normally do "anxious" but I could just see those 20 foot sections falling into my almost completed removation... It was amazing to watch them do this....After being spared by both Katrina and Rita, we bit the bullet and paid to have these potential homewreckers removed...It was hard because I am a tree lover....Another couple of weeks and my dishes won't need to be washed in the bathtub...The first thing that I'm cooking on my fancy new stove: an egg fried in real butter!!! Sad, huh??? So, didn't get much else done....Paula |

Guided tour of the studios followed by sitting and sketching the bronzes - I took my paints and managed a couple of quick watercolour sketches. nice. I am soooo jealous - I love sculpture, especially Henry Moore!!! I only got a cortisone shot in my shoulder today - never did get in line to get my new tires! Paula - you would be in a state of shock as I am weekly at the disappearing pine trees here due to extreme pine beetle epidemic. It is breathtaking in so many locations with no trees! We have an entirely different city than we had 2 years ago. Today there were none at all in the park next to my doctors office, having all been taken down last week. *~*~*~* Nancy*~*~*~* " I try to take one day at a time - but sometimes several days attack me at once."

I did a little sewing but it was so nice outside I spent most of the day in the yard playing with Lucy (the dog) and visiting with the neighbors. Everyone is kind of emerging from hibernation. My husband threw the neighborhood into shock and mowed the lawn. We tend to have the least mowed lawn on the block. It was funny because as we were leaving to go to the movies the neighbors on either side were mowing! The men here have several competitions going and yard care is a big one. In the evening we went to the movies and saw Thank You for Smoking. It was very funny -- smart funny not stupid funny. But you might not want to take little kids. There is just a little non-gratuitous sex and the language is a bit rough. I recommend it for a fun, enjoyable movie with out violence. While I was in the theater I got two messages on the cell phone and one on the phone at home from my oldest daughter. "I really need to talk to Mom" and "Mom, call as soon as you get this message" kind of messages. So, in a minor panic, I call back. "I need a white dress by my birthday (end of June)," she says. "Oh crap!" I think. Yup. You guessed it. I am joining the group making wedding dresses. She is marrying her boy toy. She is 32. He is 22. They have been dating for 2 years and she is really nuts about him. "If there was one other thing wrong with him the age thing would be the deal breaker," she once told me. "But there is nothing else about him that I don't love." Wadda ya gonna do? But I do have mixed feelings about this. The best part is they plan to start working on my grand baby!! Dorothy |

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding, Dorothy!! Any thoughts on how you are gonna do the dress? I love sculpture and museums too. I take Sarah to the museum here as they have a terrific children's room (but of course, I always take a few minutes to browse the other things as well.) Patsy==how are you feeling this morning? Dental work always makes me grumpy!! I ended up getting no sewing done. I did though get 3 quizes done in my forensic nursing course so I feel like I accomplished something! We had a light dinner after a big lunch so no cooking last night. The Braves game had a rain delay so we ended up staying up late just to watch them lose :( Julie

Yay Dorothy - you might beat me in the Grandkids stakes! Congrats to you and yours - If they have been together for 2 years you must have got used to it by now! Nancy - I took a group a few years ago but had to come back before we could get round to some sketching ( I was on lunch duty) but I have another trip planned later in May with another group of kids. It is a fabulous place at Perry Green and the scultures are so different every time you see them depending on the weather. I hadn't seen them in birght sun before but under lowering cloud. Walking along a huge grass avenue to reach a towering arch of bronze is quite something. There is one that he called his sheep pieces that are in a sheep meadow with lambs climbing over them - magical. You get to touch and connect with the bronzes outside as well - some of them feel like elephant hide, warm and rough in the sun. Well wicked! love and kisses, Jan

swartzrn thanks for asking but I was fine this morning (or should I say afternoon). I slept until after 12:00 today. My gums on each side upper are a little tender where he had to make the incision on each side but otherwise, I'm fine. The dentist dh and I go to is amazing. So are his hygenists. She did some deep cleaning yesterday on my teeth and assured me I'd have sore gums today but not so far. Anyway, DH went to the doctor yesterday and the doctor told him he was having a major allergy attach and gave him some sample antihistamines to take as well as a prescription for a Z pak if he doesn't get better but you'd think he's going to "kick the bucket" at any minute. Men when they have the most minor things wrong with them are so dramatic! I cleaned house today instead of working on my sewing projects and tomorrow after church I really need to get some of this ironing done that is hanging here in my sewing room. Hope you all have a good weekend and enjoy some sewing time. Patsy Patsy
