Same rules as always here – you cannot participate if you have not participated successfully in past swaps (fq, scavenger or other swap). I will need you to email me (<email address removed for privacy>) your username, real name, mailing address, telephone number (will not be shared, only for emergencies) and if you quilt or sew or both. If you haven't participated in a past scavenger hunt, please let me know what swaps you have participated in so I may confirm with hostess.

These rules may seem strict, but based on past experiences, the board has decided to set participation rules. Before committing to this swap, please carefully consider if you will be able to fulfill the swap. If you do need to drop out of the swap or will be late, please contact me immediately. If you do not fulfill your obligation to this swap after committing, you will not be permitted to join future swaps of this type.

Ten individual items, try to keep your spending at about the $15 (USD) mark (PLUS postage costs). NOTE: If you are in the US and mailling to the US, I suggest going to the USPS website here (https://sss-web.usps.com/cns/landing.do) and printing a label - you will get free delivery confirmation on your package if you ship priority!

Remember, should you have any questions/concerns, please let me know at any time. Once pairings are made, please please PLEASE be in contact with your swap partner frequently (at least once a week) throughout the swap. We have found that those who have not kept in touch are the ones that end up with problems at the end of the swap.

Pairings will be made May 10, 2006- mail-by date June 5, 2006. Please be sure to stay in touch with your partner during this time to help ensure a successful swap. If you will be late mailing, please contact me as well as your partner.

Remember, this is a SUMMER hunt, so think summer while hunting! Also keep in mind your swap partner's preferences. I have been pretty vague with your hunt list so that you can use your imagination.

Things to Hunt for:
1. postcard - can be sent separately or with your package
2. floral fat quarter - think summer flowers!
3. something homemade/sewn/quilty - small, nothing too big or complicated
4. sewing/quilting gadget
5. sewing/quilting pattern
6. fruit - something with fruit on it, fruit scented, etc.
7. ladybug - no real ones, please!
8. sunshine yellow
9. beach - fish, sand, shells, water, boats, etc.
10. your favorite summer recipe

Same rules as always here – you cannot participate if you have not participated successfully in past swaps

Wow..Not that I am interested...but I just have a question...this seems awful strict...in other words no "newbies" to this message board can join this swap right? It just sounds to me like unless you've been a member of this MB forever, and have participated in this particular swap before....you can't join this particular swap...am I reading this wrong?

we have been doing swaps on this site for YEARS and there has been a pattern of newbies joining in and not full filling there end of the bargain, we have been burned at least 4 or more times, maybe even a lot more, so the "slackers" so to speak have ruined it for the others.

there is room for people who have posted for a long time, no rule is written in stone, except the one, no new posters, blame the others in years past :-)

As Carman has said, we have had numerous new members sign up for these swaps and then disappear after they receive their package. As swap hostess, I need to ensure a successful swap for every participant and I cannot afford to replace $15-$20 in packages when someone doesn't follow through.

If you look at it another way, we only require you successfully complete ONE other swap on this board - a simple fat quarter swap or some other type of swap that doesn't cost a lot. And as Carman said, if you're interested and have been a member of the boards for quite some time and a regular poster, I would be willing to consider participation, but would probably make myself as your partner.

Thanks for answering my question! I guess I can understand as I have talked to some other women and they explained about "getting burned" with swaps before and it makes a little more sense to me now than it did when I first ready it! LOL

Being that I have never joined one before I haven't had any experiences, good or bad, but can understand why some rules have to be so strict after hearing about some of the bad experiences! Thanks again!! :)

I haven't been in a swap here in quite a while, but I would like to join you in the next one. I've never been in the scavenger hunt swap, but I've been in many other swaps here.

I don't blame you for the strict rules. A few years ago we had a house block swap here and everyone made an extra block for a gift quilt for someone here. One lady pieced the blocks together and mailed the top to another lady who had volunteered to quilt it. We never heard from her again.

Pairing for me is ok..can't remember if Libby and I were paired before so I'm ok unless she needs to change.

Judy, if I had a sewing/quilting show coming up I'd wait for that too. I've just managed to pick a few things up here and there, that's all.

She was shocked ( more than surprised) when the kids presented it to her.. The designer of it is the one that is not her natural son.. He made her cry with a note he wrote her on Mothers Day.. and then, she found out he designed her throw and she was just blown away.. They all got a kick out of autographing the fabric squares I had sewn for them to sign... It said " we love you Mom" and then had a red heart and their name patches.. I put a label on the back with " A Nicholas design crafted by Lib May 2006" on the label.. They all loved that also.. It is fleece, blue plaid with little brown teddy bears on it.. Lettering navy blue on red fleece patches and red fleece heart and wow cotton signature rectangles on red fleece.. She had been asking for something to use at the ball games to keep warm.. I am still sneezing in my sewing room from the lint.. But it sure was worth it...

I now have everything, except my recipe... Hard to decide , there.. I was waiting on the Holiday (yesterday) and the notions 50 % off sale at Hancocks before I bought my tool for this package.. Glad I did .. I now have to find a box and copy a recipe.. I will be ready by Fri, I hope, but it may be Monday.. I have to do a stint as Hostess of a model home at the Homearama on Thursday.. Our Chapt of ABWA makes money for our scholarship fund doing things like this.. And we get to see all the new furnished homes free...Great way to keep up with whats going on in new homes and furnishings..

ACK - I cannot read patterns to save my life! I didn't get the homemade thing done today - I need help. I'll get that help from my mom tonight (had the same problem when I made my daughter a dress!) and get the item done for Friday mailing!!

Hey Julie, and Shari, I am going to try my best to mail Saturday. This week has just gotten away from me, I am so sorry. I just finished a pillow cover that I promised my MIL 2 weeks ago, and it's almost 11:30. I have a luncheon at my daughters Church tomorrow afternoon and our post office is only open until 1. I MAY have to mail Monday if that is alright? :nervous:

I am glad the package arrived.
I think the pattern for the sundress is cute and hoped it would fit your grandaughters..now for the time to sew  I am anxious to try a new technique of applique with the kits you sent for the blocks...You trace the pattern on the reverse side of the block and well its too complicated over the boards to explain...anybody know what I am talking about???? :nc:

Ladies, Yall should see my new Thread Catcher.. It is mounted on the table between my serger and my coverstitcher and is ready for lots of thread ends and scraps etc... The fabric is so funny.. Has a duck or goose ?? in a big picture hat and she has a biting humor.. Fabulous.... It was the handmade item in my scavenger package.. How lucky can you get.. Lyn , the talented esrun3 , was my partner.. She is one more gifted lady, let me tell you.. I have instructions on how to make one, but I like her pattern much better.. I bet she designed it herself.. Thanks a million for all my gifts, Lyn...

Hi Debby!!! I got my package today and it is FABULOUS!!! When I opened the box, I immediately smelled the apple candles and they smell so yummy!! I LOVE the ladybugs!! Thank you for the post card and the beautiful fabric and patterns and the yellow thread is so pretty!! Did you make the hot plates?
I did make the pin cushion. It's my first one and Sarah did help a bit with the stuffing!
I just wanted to tell you that I am anxious to start on the quilt pattern! I haven't ever made one but have been keeping all of my FQ's and am going to use them for a quilt that has the swap FQ's in it. The pattern you sent is just perfect for that! Thank you!!
This has been a long week and getting such a sweet package just brightened my day! Thank you again!!!! Julie

HI Carman...I got your package in the mail on Monday. What a package! It came at a really good time as I definitely was in need of a pick me up. I've been under the weather since Friday and I'm only getting back on my feet today. Loved everything...especially the sewing organizer you made me. Super neat idea - will definitely get used, esp. with all the quilting classes that I take! The sandle candles...sooo cute, the strawberry towels....will look great in my kitchen, the rotary blade...always need that! Can't wait til I get back to my normal self as I'm definitely gonna make your breakfast trifle and the crisp - strawberries will be coming in season here soon. Love the table runner pattern. It's added to my list of projects to make! Oh....I'm definitely not put out with the sweets and chocolates...I sampled them today

WOW...I know that I definitely have to think much more creatively in the future. Thanks again!!!!

What a sweet smelling package I rec'd from Karen! My daughter was here when it came and we ooohhed and aaahhhed over all the wonderful things. It was all so bright and summery and cheerful. We both loved the scents of the candles and powders in there.
The Seashell candle holder goes in my bathroom. The bright sunshine yellow tablecloth is definately a feeling of summer. The pink ladybug candle holder goes well in my dining room. I look forward to getting to use the pattern for all the cute cases. It is always so interesting and fun to see all the different ideas people come up with.
Thanks so much for all of it and I'm sure to be ordering some candles from your website. They are very fragrant.

Looks like we're waiting on just one more package to arrive and I have been in contact with the sender.

Thanks, ladie for another successful swap!

I've included pics in this message of the Sewing Machine Catch-All that I made for my partner - thought it was something I could definitely use too! There are pockets across the front (blue/turquoise part).
