I am going to make London Blinds using a contrasting fabric for the inverted pleats. Would adding corded self piping to the seams at the pleats be a good idea, or would it interfere with the way the shade hangs when open?

I was in the same spot so I looked it up.

Now that I know what they are, I still am not sure what the cording would do to them. I can't even quite picture them with a change of fabric in the pleats. Sorry.

Here is the London Blind. I did not use piping, but just turned some of the floral to the front and stitched.

Very nice. Can you pull it up even higher? My house is very dark -- old brick built to keep the heat in in the winter and out in the summer -- and I need easy to raise and lower blinds.

Dorothy,

You could pull them up higher, butI don't know how it would look. Have you considered Roman Shades?

I made a beautiful (if I do say so). It's in the darkest room in the house. I still have to raise it for the season. I kept it down because it is heavy enough to keep out a draft I noticed at the air conditioner. It really doesn't raise very high.
Most of my curtains are just sheer to let light in. They don't do much for keeping out cold or for privacy.
I just wondered how that would work. I like the look.
