Today I am going to stitch up some jeans for my grandson. Very plain except for an iPod pocket and a bellows pocket on the other side. I have never worked with stretchy denim in particular before. I think it will be fun.

What is everyone else working on for kids these days.

Since my dh said that I can install the digital camera s/w on his laptop I should be able to post some stuff soon. He leaves for FL on Sunday so I've got to get moving.

I've been making many pairs of shorts for my youngest DGS-in Sponge Bob Squarepants motifs, of course (his very favorite), some shorts and tanks for my oldest dgs and some summer shorts outfits for my dgd and made 2 nightgowns for my dgd out of "horsey" fabric as she calls it (can you guess that horses are her thing right now).

I haven't used the stretch denim either, how well does it sew up, Mary?

I'm still plugging away at that eyelet dress for my daughter. It's a bit of extra work, b/c the top of the bodice has princess seams, the bottom has darts that must meet with the seams, even after alterations, the top has back button closures, the skirt portion has a zipper closure, and I needed to add a lining b/c of the fitted shape and the sheerness of the eyelets.... whew! not your ordinary breezy summer sun dress project! Meanwhile...today I picked up some fun fabrics for a 3-tiered skirt for myself (see featured in latest Threads).

Andrea
Before you start that skirt take a look at the one in Sew News -- last month I think.
It's serged but you could do it on a sewing machine. I like the way you put the tiers together then cut the sides and sew the seam up the back.
There is probably a bit more waste I guess.

I find the stretch denim a bit heavy and bulky. Maybe I am just used to lighter fabrics, usually for myself. It stitches up nicely though. The pockets are more work than anything else.

Hi, what pattern are you using for the jeans? I modified mine from a couple and did the pockets from directions in Ottobre.

Oh Mary Would you please post the picture of your iPod pocket when you're done?
I've been wanting to add MP3 player pockets on our clothes and simply have no clue where and how to start. None of our RTW clothes/pants come with mp3 player pocket. I'd love to see how you do it and may be I can copy that ;-) Pretty please...

We seem to have had an attack of babies at work/church so I have been mad Knitting woman once more - http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e81/Janicehodge/IMG_2579.jpg and making little bags for the big sisters.. like this one http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e81/Janicehodge/IMG_2587.jpg

haven't worked out how to add hard handles yet but I'll work on it, Mary. I also have an ipop cosy to design and a camera case to make for my daughters...

I have been sewing "work" clothes for my youngest dd. On one top, my daughter wanted me to use the wrong side of the fabric as the colors were muted. However, my brain kept malfunctioning and kept trying to put the right side out. So something that should have just whipped together, instead made me develop a relationship with the seam ripper.

Simplicity patterns are 1.99 on Saturday and Sunday at Joanns and she has some more outfits planned, so that will keep me going.

I'm finishing up a tote this morning for the June challenge to give to my SIL and I have two quilt tops waiting to be machine quilted.
