I am making #15 from Ottobre 4/2004 (corduroy pants) and I am having TONS of trouble with the fly-front. It seems like the pattern's fly front was incorrect on the pattern sheet, which isn't like Ottobre (I've checked twice). If anyone could help me figure out how to fix it, I'd be eternally greatful. This is the front fly area. Both sides are identical. I have zig-zag finished the raw edges of the fly: http://kelly.hogaboom.org/tutorials/images/20060510sew-whats-new01.jpg To reiterate, these are the two fronts, right-sides out facing the camera: http://kelly.hogaboom.org/tutorials/images/20060510sew-whats-new02.jpg This is how the instructions indicate to assemble. If I had pieces that looked like this, I could do it. I have the fly shield piece and am not confused about that. However, both pieces I have look like the "shallower" cut (where my finger is pointing). There were no lines I could see on the pattern sheet to draw a self-facing! http://kelly.hogaboom.org/tutorials/images/20060510sew-whats-new03.jpg This is me saying, "WTF?" and asking the Goddesses of S-W-N to advise: http://kelly.hogaboom.org/tutorials/images/20060510sew-whats-new04.jpg What did I do wrong? I double-checked the pattern sheet. What should I do? Can I sew a makeshift facing to the right side of the fly? How big should it be? The pants are almost ENTIRELY ASSEMBLED and I can't bear to start from scratch. (X-posted to "Gen Sewing") see the mundane life of a housewife.
