I bought a new pattern and some fabric to make a dress for my daughter. Wish me luck - she picked the pattern. I talked her into some capris and tanks too (something I can punch out easily if I get frustrated with this dress!)

Please share when you finish. I love having the kids involved in picking stuff out-they are much more likely to wear the items too!

I will be setting up a website for all my sewing pics. I will gladly share when I have them done. I may post a few of my mothers creations as well - she is into costuming. She made an awsome Marylin Monroe dress for my sister for halloween last year - she was a spitting image.

I am finishing up some pants and will be jumping into the summer clothes for Abbey in the next week or so.

Please share any pics you have of girls clothing - or boys (I have one of those too)

THanks all!

The front is all done, the casing is all in and the drawstrings on the front are so cute! I can hardly wait to finish!

That turned out great - very summery. I agree - the beads are a nice touch.

Abbey has pretty good taste - that calico was actually bought at Walmart - and cost me $4. Makes the dress even better - and I have half the fabric left over for shorts/capris.

I had my hobby hubby drill out the holes on the beads so they would fit the drawstrings - I couldn't find beads with large enough holes, so I gave him twice as many as I needed, and he drilled them out. They are plain old pealized pony beads.

What you can't see on the dress outside is the allowance inside. I had to take the dress in from a size 7 to 6X, and instead of cutting it out - I left the allowance in and hand sewed the seams - that way I can let it out for next year! Same with the straps. I like the the way the drawstrings gather - because she is only going to be 11, she hasn't hit puberty, and it helps hide the stick straight body, lol.

It was amazingly easy to make. So far, the easiest pattern for girls I have.

It gives the illusion that she isn't a stick. Nice job!!
Pretty color with her hair. Did she help you sew it too?

No, Abbey does not sew - lol. Ahhh, my Abbey, but she loves the cool clothes!

I hope she tries to someday though!

That is really cute!!! I am glad to see that pattern turned out well. I bought it recently too. I have been trying to find the perfect fabric.
