WOW!! Those are just terrific. I am wondering about the multicolored ruffles on the arm. Are those ruffles or flounces and also did you finish the edge or just leave the cut edge? Thanks for any info as I am thinking about making a swimsuit with some of those ruffles across the front. Mary |

Wow, those are really nice. How do you work with that type of material and get such nice seams (ie. no puckering)? |

thanks guys! To answer some of your questions.. they are ruffles attached to the beige illusion fabric also used in the bodice top. I use flounced when there are ruffles at the end of a sleeve. It looks smoother and I can make them without a seam in them. this application is a bit harder because there are so many of them. I only use a serger to construct my garments, and a coverstitch for finish on the neck and panty legs. this creates a beautiful finished look both on the inside and outside. See some of my work here:

OH yeah, I forgot.... I did not finish (roll) the hems of the sleeves. I always roll the hems of my skirts or finished flounces on sleeves, but beleive it or not, when you rolll these ruffles, they catch on each other. Because they are made of lycra mesh, they do not require any finish at all and will never fray.

crystalblue, thanks for the compliments..I get my fabric wherever I find it. I live about 1.5 hours away from NYC and I spend a bunch of time in the city looking for fabric. Spandex house is my favorite!!

We were in NYC last summer and my dh kindly accompanied me on a tour (ok shopping trip) to as many fabric shops as I could find. He said later that it was fun to watch me in some of the stores. He said, " You looked like a kid in a candy store!" The Spandex House was one of those places that caused large amounts of drooling! |
