Does anyone have a good way to price machine embroidery work? Many years ago I read something that suggested $1.00/1000 stitches. I'm sure it's higher now. Any suggestions? |

I don't have a clue, but searching online thru embroidery sites should give you some idea. Hey girls, how do you charge for your embroidery jobs?

Here in our area the custom embroidery places wanted $ 20.00 to do 9 letters. I called for my sister in-law. I nearly flipped out at that price. Not to the person but in my mind. I did it for her for free. I have no idea what the home embroidey people charge. |

I live in North Alabama and the going price around here is $3. per Letter...I thought that was kinda high. Again, I did it for free for a friend of my daughters.

I usually charge $4 or $5 per name. $4 for monograms and if it is a design $2 for each color. I got these prices from a friend and decided it was fair. If you add up the thread, stablizer, and the time you make about $2.50 off each name. They also keep comming back because it is affordable. Before I bought my machine I was paying arround $20 per piece.

I charge $1.00 to $1.50 per 1000 stitches depending on the difficulty of the design (color changes, where and on what it's going, etc.) Also, if I need to buy a design online I run that by the customer first and charge them what it costs me. I know I get to keep the design but sometimes it can take forever to find just the right one so I feel my time is worth something too. If what they want is very involved with several designs I charge a set-up fee of $5.00 also. |

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply. With your help I think I can come up with a price that is reasonable and fair. Happy sewing! |
