I like the way you have scrunchies to go with the dresses - nice finishing touch.

The skating outfits are beautiful.......I'm partial to the victorian lace...... So are these one of a kind, or are you doing multiples of them for a skating club? Patty

I like your dresses, especially the top pink/green one. Do you draft your own patterns, or amend the a basic dress pattern for a jumping off point? I've been using the same basic patterns for ice dresses since 1989 for my daughter's and some others here in N. Alabama. Your dresses are lovely. AngieM2 |

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.... some quick answers to your questions and comments: I do draft my own patterns Most of my dresses are one of a kind designs for custom clients, although I do duplicate some dresses in different fabrics/colors AFTER the skater is finished competing with this particular design, and only if I have designed it. Customers that design their own dresses own that design and I am obligated not to duplicate it. Just my personal practice. The blue dress can be made as an evening dress if you don't use the attached bodysuit underneath, and know someone that can airbrush. I always add skrunchies with my dresses. Look at that Lynn the stork is moving over more an more!! I bet Cyber sew could make the baby a litty bitty skating outfit!! I make my niece a littt bitty riding outfit!! I love the flesh coloured one. I think one of our monthly competitions should be a drawup of a skating outfit and then you would make the winners!!! That would be alot of fun and it could give you alot of new Ideas and inspiration!! Have you ever considered doing horse show slinkies?? It is essentially the same Idea. Great idea Stephi but my daughter is sure this is a boy and I think he might look kind of funny in those skirts! I sure do like them though! My daughter and her boyfriend heard the heartbeat for the first time today and they did an ultrasound...my daughter was all excited, but said the baby's arms are longer than it's body. LOL.. Can't believe she's 3 months already. Next ultrasound in 6 weeks when they hope to be able to tell the sex of the baby.

Lovely outfits. I believe the horse slinkies go on the horse's tail. Correct me if I am wrong.

http://www.rods.com/dg/364,358_Ladies-Western-Show-Slinkies.html These are very basic slinkies. You can get very creative with them the same as Ice skating and gymnastics outfits. They have to be long sleeve for most horse show assoc. But they can sell for as much as $200 each and up. Like I said this link is mass produced generic ones. If you search ebay you will run across them. Mary you are thinking of a tail bag, but they do have a slinky type bag for the tail tube. That might be what you are thinking of!! When I get a little better at the childrens clothing I am going to move into designing some show clothes for the people at my barn. Sparkles Sparkles Sparkles!!! Stephi

Yeah!!! I used a tan velvety material to make the yokes when I played around with it. Its way cheaper and alot cooler than ultra seud. You can make tham body suit style or tunic style I preffer tunic because body suit tends to ride when you ride...and thats bad Any way if you surf the web you can find lots of ideas. My one suggestion is, I know non horse people think western stars and saloon when they think horse rider but most of us hate that, so stay away from it if you can!!! Go with what you have done on you skating outfits simple and pretty fading colours

Stephi, you are the best! I am planning to start making these in the next few weeks. I can't believe the money they are selling for, and they are sooooo simple in comparison to skating dresses. I can't thank you enough!!! I'll keep you posted......you'll be the first to see my new slinkies!! I have several competitive stables around me, I think I'll make some appointments with the owners/managers. I can't hurt! See some of my work here:

Thats a good Idea! If they say that they are english, that means they show ina different type of outfit. You might ask if they are interested in short sleeve slinkies, LOL, you could branch out and be it to be wearing at all the horse shows Haha Keep me updated. Stephi

Those slinkies are clever - they sure look like super decorated leotards for dance. That was a great suggestion. |
