I attended a 70th birthday party for a friend last night, one of her DGD had on a VERY cute gingham checked dress(store bought-they didn't remember where)--I WANT THE PATTERN. It had ragland type set-in short puff sleeves(bias edged), square neckline(straight across front and back), dropped waist with about 2inch band at hips, and gathered skirt. The bodice of the dress was also gathered above the band. I searched eBay this morning-nothing there. I am trying to locate a picture of a similar dress. Has anyone seen anything like this or anything that can be altered. I need size 2. If it helps at all, try to remember the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes", it is similar to the one Idgie wore as a young girl for a wedding. I seem to remember her's having a yellow sash--I KNOW she had a big bow on top of her head when she was wearing the dress. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Man, the uncomplicated neckline and the raglan sleeves give this garment a look of its own. I don't know if this can be adapted to your needs or not, but you might take a look and see... http://www.patternsoftime.com/products.asp?cat=9&pg=21 There are a couple here that look big for your child but might be adapted http://www.patternsoftime.com/products.asp?cat=9&pg=21 This first of these two from 1923 is suggested as gingham. Good luck! pam

The fourth from the top is the closest--but still not right--I found a place that sells a dress with the right neckline/sleeves but did not have the drop waist. I have asked permission to post picture here, didn't think it would hurt to ask. If I get a favorable reply will post that much. THANKS so much for searching for the pattern. If I ever find it I will be sure to pass the information on to everyone. I feel sure others would want the pattern, if they saw the dress. A heirloom look for sure. |

Found this pattern at WalMart today--the neckline and sleeves are right on the short sleeve top. No one will have to know it started at PJs. I am thinking I can cut straight down from arms and gather to an added waist band and put gathered skirt on bottom and come real close--what does everyone think?? Does it sound "doable"? http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4636.htm It will probably be the weekend before I get to work on anything. I work full time and have two Gkids(8yr boy--1yr girl) until seven each night. I will update as soon as I can get started. IF this works will post picture and instructions. |

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Antique-1899-Girls-Dress-Pattern-Bust-22_W0QQitemZ6281519902QQcategoryZ4158QQrdZ1QQcmdZV iewItem Look! This one has a yoke but the "dress" is right---thought y'all might want a visual of what I am going for. After seeing this I am sure that I can use the nightie pattern for neck and sleeves then extend/add to bottom, and make this thing. Now I have to decided on fabric.....so many ideas, so little time. Wish me luck! |
