well i am in my second week of working with a trainer at a club, and WOW  today we did the legs and i feel like a toddler trying to walk lol. he even told me to make sure i hang onto the hand rails of stairs till tonight as i will be wobbly, so far he is right. i am so glad i hired a trainer as he PUSHES me to fatigue, where if i were by myself that would never happen  in fact today when i was doing leg lunges, on my last one my legs buckled and i had to use every bit of my ARM strength to hang onto him to get up lol, and then he says, "just what we want to see" ugh.

so now i am nearing my goal and now the tone up start as i told my trainer, i am looking like a bowl of jello and i would like the jiggle to stop :bg:

Carman, you are an inspiration to everyone. I can't thank you enough for sharing your story of weight loss with us. I exercise too, but sporadically with no trainer. It probably does me no good that way.

Carmen, don't forget, muscle weighs more than fat (I'm sure your trainer told you that) so your "weight" may actually go up.
When that happens, don't focus on the number the scale shows, watch how much better your NEW clothes will fit. I gained alot of weight when I was doing body building stuff (no drugs - went to the gym 5 times a week), but I was still a size 2 and my clothes were loose. So, after you hit your target weight you may want to put the scale away for a couple of weeks and see if your body measurements change for the better!
Congratulations!!!!
- Maureen.

that was one thing my trainer told me to do for the next month, STAY AWAY from the scale, as i am very aware of my goal weight at the moment, so i am TRYING not to step on the scale (never thought i would say that lol) he is also aware of how close i am to my goal and does not want me to get discouraged with the slow to no weight loss, at least till the body gets used the exercises. it is funny to meet people i have not seen in awhile, some look at me and are not sure what to say, and others are full of encouragement. the worst part is now i am dealing with people that say i don't need to loose anymore, and i tell them that if they knew how much i weighed they would not say that, but they keep saying, oh no you will be to skinny at that point, ya right :bang:

my sister has started to loose weight now and my VERY over weight brother has joined a weight loss plan and he is starting to loose weight too, so i am very proud to have lost my weight , but now i can encourage the sister and brother too, who would have thought

Sounds like you're doing just great Carmen! It is really wise to incorporate exercise -- it will only make it easier to keep that fat off! I've been trying for the past couple months to stay on an exercise routine, and I did lose about 10 pounds, but I'm having trouble keeping it up. Hopefully now that the weather is nicer I can do some jogging outside. I wish I could work with a trainer! Actually, I think my university might provide personal training sessions at some fairly low cost..maybe I should look into it. Anyhow, keep up the good work!

Carmen - I am in awe everytime I see your messages. How proud you must be! I know how hard it can be and while I hate sweating d/t any reason (and it doesn't take much) I do feel better overall after a regular routine even when it hurts d/t my unsteady joints. Congratulations.

thanks everyone for the encouraging words, it is KILLING me not going on the scale, i have been sooooooooooooooo scale conscious and know exactly when and how my body reacts during the month, that not stepping on it is like being a weight junkie  if there is such a thing lol.

That is a nasty trick -- take you off the scale with only 5 pounds to go!!
It's kind of funny in a sadistic sort of way.

Carman--YEAH for you!!! I have been watching your ticker along and you have really done well at your weight loss!! Isn't it a wonderful feeling!!!
Everyone is right--DO not get on the scales! There is a class called Body Pump that I absolutely love and it works ALL muscles and is sorta geared more for women. I started doing that and weighing as normal and then when I saw the pounds going up, I was really upset! Even though I knew it was muscle instead of fat, it's still a little discouraging! Pilates is really good also for toning but it's just plain out harder than it looks!!!
Again, GREAT GREAT JOB!!! What are you going to do to celebrate when you reach your goal??

i am going to a day spa to be SPOILED :bg: when i reach my goal. my trainer was right when he said it is the second day that will hurt the leg muscles that we worked on, YIKES, my calf muscles and hamstring are in continual shock, till i walk for a few minutes. i was with the trainer today instead of tomorrow as i am working at a golf tournament so can not go tomorrow, well he was very pleased with himself that i was walking as slow as i was, thankfully it only takes few minutes for it to go away, but those few minutes HURT

Carman, your spa day is certainly well deserved!! Pamper yourself!!! I have been hanging on to a gift certificate for a day spa here and haven't had a chance to go :( You'll have to let me know how it was!! I have had the gift card since Christmas as it was a gift from my FIL. Maybe soon....
The 2nd day is always the most painful! Again, GREAT JOB!!

Way to go Carman!  You're doing great!
I know what you mean about the wobbly legs. When I started Tai Bo a few months ago, the first day we did it I couldn't left my leg to get into my car to go home. :nervous: I had to reach down with my hands and lift it into the car. I was sooooooo sore the next day.

Keep it up. The more you exercise, the easier it gets.
