Tennis elbows not withstanding I have to knit for new babies! A collegue at work is expecting his first soon so I whipped up this since the weekend.

A friend from church is due to pop any moment and I thought she wasn't due for another month so you can see what I will be doing over half term! Her firstborn was delivered by her husband in the bathroom while on the phone to the midwife who was rushing to the scene, so I had better get busy.

Very nice sweater Jan! I'm afraid my new soon to be grandchild would roast in that here in Phoenix-even in November and December! too bad too because I love sweaters but I sure can't wear them and none of my kids do either.

Sound like here....husband on the way home from Iraq, surprising his pregnant wife, BEFORE she was due.....came home to find his wife in labor, tried to get to the hospital. Made it to Ace Hardware. (sunday, no one there.) they forgot their cell phones. Dad delivered the baby in the front seat of the car then ran around the street like a crazy man trying to get help. Someone called the cops and said he'd seen a man with blood all over him, he thought it was a shooting...Mother and baby are fine...Dad is a little rattled...28 hrs in the air to get home to deliver his own baby in the car, then being thought of as a killer...(I know it's not suppsed to be funny...but it really is...poor man... )

BTW Miss Jan...nice sweater...

She is not due till Oct and it is a 3 month size so will get some use! I only knit for the size the child will be inthe winter!

Chrys - a classic story! You could see it on the tele and say "that would never happen in real life"

I'm not sure how to do this, but I wanted to tell Margot what a beautiful sweater. I'd like to make one for my great grandson in Oregon and was thinking about making a cardigan. He will be one this June. Your design is so very nice and your work too.
Gwen

Forgive me for probably not doing this right! :nervous:

Thanks for the kind words people, swelled head indeed Libby!
I have nearly finished the other cardigan and will post here when I have taken a piccy. The pattern is a very simple 4 row repeat - and 2 of thoe rows are purl! I love knitting baby clothes - they work up so fast. I probably have enough wool left for a premmie jumper after this.
My daughters Ma in law has asked me if I will knit her a shawl, which I have agreed to. My understanding is she buys the ingredients and I make it up and get to keep the left over yarn as payment. Not sure if she has the same thoughts.....

still waiting for the baby to arrive so I am in time with this one - http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e81/Janicehodge/IMG_2579.jpg

It is the same pattern only as a cardigan. I have done this one as a v neck as well.
