Schooooooool's out for summer! The kids get to sleep late. Time for swimming, going to the beach, actually having time to keep the house clean, catching up on my reading, having fresh vegetables from the garden, and FINALLY having more time to sew. I know some moms dread this time of year, but since I'm off work all summer with my kids, I love it. |

Send me back to those At-Home-Mom Days! I sooooo miss summers, no school, the beach, and time to RELAX!

We still have next week. 3 1/2 days. I will be serving 4 breakfasts & 3 lunches. DS finished yesterday with an award ceromony. I took the day off & took him to lunch & shopping after. Dd has finals next week. I have 5 graduated & 1 to go. She has been excepted into the IB program in her school. She could finish high school with up to 12 college credits. She is determined to do it. She has a full 2 yr. scholarship & our community college. But she is still determined to get a 4 yr. scholarship also. She wants to be a Zoologist or an ecologist. She is volunterring at the Zoo this summer helping the zookeepers, she might change her mind. I got a letter in the mail the other day letting me know that I am officially laid off as of the last day of school. They don't know what they are doing to feed kids next year so they have laid us all off & told us to be available for meetings or call backs in August. I think I am going to go out & apply @ Wal-Mart, Target, Sam's Etc. I would apply at Jo Anns but there are too many crafts & not enough actual (garment) sewing. I don't think I would enjoy it like I used to back in the '70s. Besides I need the money & I never took home a lot from there. School starts back here on Sept 5. They passed a law last yr. That all public schools in Michigan can't start before Labor Day. Barb

Sorry to hear about your job BArb, I know you liked being in the school. You will probably find that your young 'un will enjoy the zoo immensely. My daughter is doing some volunteering work for a local environmental group this summer to get in some experience.

Our kids are all grown & with kids of their own but I loved have the 4 of them home over the summer. I still miss that so borrow a grand or 2 when ever I can. I don't even mind being back up when school is on & one gets sick & can't go to school. I don't have too many to watch anymore though. The 12 grands range in age from 21 down to 7 yrs. We had 2 graduate from high school this year & 3 are in college. How time just flys. |

Thanks Magot! I do like working with the kids. I'm just not sure about the school system. They are making so many cuts & then adding new programs for parents to learn how to parent. It is really sad how many need it but they aren't the ones who show up. I'm sure my DD will like the Zoo work. Her big Sister is a teacher there in the summers also ( she teaches 2nd grade during the school yr.)She majored in Science for her elem. teaching degree. They like having her there because she does a lot of recruiting at the school where she works. I just don't know if the 2 will work together at all. I also not sure if I am going to like driving her across town3-4 times a week then back to pick her up 4 hrs. later. I guess since she is my last to shuttle I better enjoy it while I can. Barb
