For Irish Dance Dress, not wedding dress, but seems like those who do wedding /special occasion may be able to advise me...How do you attach sequinned lace/net overlay to satin charmeuse underneath? I am thinking of stiching along the pattern of sequins as if quilting a sandwich as I must line underneath the charmeuse with a light-midweight interfacing as well. I figure if I layer it first, then cut and serge edges, that might make it stable enough to hold together and take the weight of the skirt. Any thoughts or am I way off track? :nervous:

I've never attached the overlays on these types of fabric except at the top. If I am using something, net or interfacing stiffner underneath, I lay it out with the individual fabric pieces, baste the two together on all sides, and treat the whole "sandwich" as though it were one piece of fabric, hem and everything

If the sequin net is on the bodice, then I would probably cut and baste each individual piece together before I attached them to the skirtOR I would sew it together with Fench seams and sew it only at the main parts of the garment, the back zipper, neck, waist, sleeves, treating it more like an exposed lining. It is certainly possible to sew on the lines of sequins with no real problems except that net has a tendancy to shift and stretch. I prefer minimal handling of net where possible.
