I have never embroidered on shirts and the one I am working on is for my DIL. She wants a bird on each tip of the collar. The design measures 1" w x 7/8" h which will fit nicely. I am using water soluble stabilizer but I am not sure about hooping so that it will not move in the process. She also wants a bird on each cuff so I assume the same process would work there. Birds and birdhouses are her passion so they will be well represented on this shirt (I hope).

If someone can help me with this, it surely will be appreciated.

Thank you.

I would use the no hoop method. That means using the water soluable on the bottom. usally heavy weight soluable. then spray it with a spary adhesive to hold it in blace then for th efirst stitch use a basting stitch and then stitch your design. If you can I would print a template to make placement better.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Aimee,

Thank you for the instruction. I can't print a template but I stitched a test of the design so maybe it can be used to help in placement.

Your help is surely appreciated.

Thank you.

Have you tried peel and stick stablizer? I have used it for small projects and it works great. You would stick the collar on the stablizer and hoop it has usual. It does not move when you embroider.
Have a Good Day!
