I am in a creative slump.
My darling hubby would like me to make something with my embroidery machine for his sister and her hubby and his mother and her hubby. Both couples are celebrating 25 yrs.(I think) of marriage this June. I have until the end of July to complete this project since we are going for a visit and I would like to hand deliver them.
What do I make them?
I was thinking maybe a pillow with all the vital facts or a wall hanging, but that is as far as I can get. I have lost all creative juices. HELP!!!!!!

Chrys,

Thanks for the ideas. They are not T-shirt/sweatshirt people, no pets, and really I don't know a whole lot about them (kitchen colors and such). The towels might be an idea but I think my husband was thinking more along the lines of a commemorative thing. That is why I was leaning towards a pillow or wall hanging.
I think I wasn't very clear in what I am asking. I need help with the creative stuff like what to write/embroider on it and if I do a wallhanging or pillow type thing how I should do it (nine patch, solid color etc.). Pictures along with suggestions would be wonderful.
Thanks!
Gina

Do they still happen to have copies of their wedding invitations? You could scan and print on fabric and then do a pillow or wall hanging ....or how about a "couple" picture of them as your center and then other pertinent information in squares around? Or even "couple" pics of then and now.... Would work for either a pillow or wall hanging. Or come up with something along that line and place in a nice picture frame-would be on a smaller scale but would also protect the work.

I was thinking a wedding picture with an anniversary picture and a lot of FSL to adorn the pillow along with some crystals? Maybe their wedding date in silver on the pillow or a 25?

For my wedding I got a white afgan with our names, wedding date and location in one corner surrounded by some flowers in our wedding colours. Something like that might be nice.

For our 25th wedding anniversary a friend counted cross stitched a pillow that looked like an envelope. Their return address was in the corner, our name and address in silver. I don't have an embroidery machine but maybe this idea could be incorporated.

Hi..I don't know if you quilt, but here is a pic of a memory quilt that I just made for my step-daughter. I scanned the pics from my puter onto iron on transfer paper and then ironed them onto solid fabric. It was a simple 9 patch design. It was only the 2nd quilt I have made and it took about 2 1/2 weeks. I have their wedding in in the middle with pics of their 2 children all around. Maybe you could put their wedding picture in the middle and then pics of either their children or they themselves thru the years. Just an idea. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at <email address removed for privacy> Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I am starting to get a few ideas for what might work. I like the idea of a picture. I have to do some hunting and talk to the SILs to see if anyone has good pics. Also I like the idea of a silver 25 and the date (I bought the silver thread this morning).
What do you think of a design like this (http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/<email address removed for privacy>/detail?.dir=/7f9d&.dnm=1bc8scd.jpg&.src=ph)? I was thinking the grey would be a silver fabric and the yellow would be a color that complements a color in the picture.

I think that works well if your parents look like American Gothic (lol). No, I really think it would look very nice! I do think you could use the wedding and anniversary pics in the center too if you liked the idea.

I have the perfect picture in mind but I don't know if I can get my hands on it. It was a picture that ran in the newspaper when they were taking in foster kids. It is one of those pictures where they are gazing at each other and you can just see the love. I am hoping someone has the actual picture otherwise I will go with one that was taken at our wedding that is almost as good.
