Hello all~
Just wondering on 2 things -was there a themed item idea(s)presented for June like the May one? I found the beach bag contest....but I thought these were seperate things.
And is anyone interested in a contest for Father's Day? I have a terrible time on ideas for gifts for dads and not only would that be great for me inspirationally - but I'm sure others ideas would help for future use. Of course, I guess I could just start a thread on Father's Day ideas....ah well.

Not sure, but I think they were talking about a tote bag for June.

yeah ok - I just got confused. Still looking for some Father's Day ideas though. I desperately do not want to make him a tie - but maybe i'll just resort to pictures of munchkins or something.

hey Butterfly - already started? OMG I must be sooooo slow. It's gonna take me a week just to pick fabric I like.......

Yes, I had to start early - cause this bag thing, I have never done before. It may take me some time! I am too used to garment sewing! Need to stretch my wings!

MrsSnuggly, did you check out the beverage containers on the home page of this website?? They are a neat idea for Father's day. Another idea, as it's BBQ season, a bbq apron for your man and big oven mitts up to mid arm. Or, one of those remote/magazine holders that hang over the arm of the couch, so your coffee table doesn't have the tv guide, popular science and 4 remotes on it all the time (I think I am going to do one of these, I'd like to see the top of my coffee table again!)

Butterfly~Yeah - I've never sewn a bag before let alone something for myself....so I'll be taking my sweet time making it just the way I want it!!

Bridesmom~My oldest son is autistic so he gets all bent out ofhsape if things aren't where "they go" which sounds greats - but not so much. I've always wanted a side arm thingy, but he would remove it(over and over and over!). I'm going to look intop some of your other ideas - I really like the mitt one as my husband is always complaining he hates mine. I'm hoping there's a pattern and maybe suggestions for good fabric types somewhere on here. Thanks!

I have a Butterick pattern that has an apron and oven mitts. I used the fabric that is used for ironing boards or oven mitts for lining them, then used a good heavy quiliting cotton for the outsides. I also made them longer than what the pattern calls for, to keep the arm hairs from being singed.

Yeah - the superman material to go with the movie hasn't hit stores yet! And as we have every other superman thing, maybe I'll just get him a Krypto the Superdog toy or something!!!LOL! (If you're unaware, Krypto is a kids cartoon about Superman's dog.)

I am thinking of making my father an apron that says "grandfarter" on it. I'm thinking I'll embroider it small so it takes a minute to really see it. :dave:
