My job search is over!!!!! I got offered the Operating Room RN position in Naples, FL this morning. It seems the money is pretty good (compared to up here) so I'm pretty excited.
My interview was on Tuesday morning and was told I might get an answer before I got on the plane back to NJ that afternoon. I was getting a little nervous it took so long - but better late than never!!
There's a sign-on bonus for all RNs so the only thing left to do is find the Naples Sewing Center when we move down!
Now if we could just find someone to buy our house!

Hurray Maureen, great news. The house will sell, try not to worry!

Oh, and your bingo prize I'm picking up tomorrow I hope! Sorry, I'm slow, all this rain has got me so slowed down it's not funny.

Good luck on your move!

My cousin is an RN at the Women's and Babies Hospital in Lancaster, PA. She decided to become an RN after seeing my son born, so I have a stake in her career (lol).

Congrats!

I just gave notice to my company a little while ago. I guess the timing was good since the contract will end here at the state offices on Sept. 20, 2006 - the only thing is that if you worked until then ya got a great severance and they'd pay the cobra insurance for a few months to give you a chance to get new employment.
I would think trying to find a job at the end of the year would be difficult.
Thank you for the congratulations ladies. Just keep those prayers coming about having a buyer for our house real soon!!
- Maureen.

Maureen --I am SOOO happy for you! It sounds like a terrific job!! Good for you!! I have heard about a lot of travel nurse assignments to Florida so I assumed nurses were short there. Congrats on the sign on bonus!! That is just sweetening the pie, huh!! Julie

Maureen, Congrats on the job here in Naples. I somehow missed that you were looking for a job around here. I know about them wanting nurses & the sign on bonus. They are also trying to get more housing for nurses & teachers here as rent plus homes are so high here. I think your having a home built a ways from here, right ? I am surprised that the pay scale is higher here than where you are now. Glad for you though. I know lots of nurses & they all complain about the pay.
Hate to tell you but Naples sewing is no longer here. He closed up & I didn't even know it. Right now Ft Myers & Port Charlotte are the closest for Janome. I think he tried to get too big too fast. Sure had a lot of nice material & such in the store as well as everything else. All high end. They owed me lessons on the compulock. One of the others will take care of that but I hate to drive farther for them.
Hope we can meet someday.
